Big Eck is hot favourite to replace Mick McCarthy as permanent manager of Sunderland at the end of the season. The timing stinks once again much like the Le Guen rumours today. Not surprising though.

Current top 5 are as follows (via Skybet)

4-1 A McLeish
5-1 K Ball
8-1 J Gregory
8-1 M Newall
8-1 P Parkinson

This could be the job for Eck. If he gets it I hope he does well.

So do I, but I fear the Sunderland fans are in for a rocky ride with their board and McLeish's tactical ability. Heaven help them!

In saying that, Eck tends to do well when coming in to sort someone else's team out, so they'd be well advised to punt him after he gets them back into the Prem.

I agree. I think Eck could take them back up. If they are wise though they'll install a new manager before he gets them relegated again. :)
