Maybe Xtratime should put Feyenoord forum under "Other Nations", with "Dutch Futbol" as a sub-thread to "Feyenoord".
Looks like AZ, PSV, and Feyenoord all advance to the Playoff ties. Utrecht crashed out in the 2nd Qualifying Round to ...Zrinjski Mostar. Never heard of them.
All forums are dying anyway, I thought the team PSV played looked like semi professionals, and PSV were at the same level in their EL qualifying round, PSV will be a pup team in the EL this season if they play the way they have since 2019 started.
Yeah, the game against that Norwegian side was unwatchable. They probably won't need to play that well either against Apollon Limassol, although they're still a stronger side than that Norwegian side.
It's game on for AZ. FC Antwerp are quite good with Mbokani up front. He'll be a handful for whoever AZ have at the back. Antwerp have quite an experienced side too with Sinan Bolat, Faris Haroun, Lior Refaelov and Richie de Laet. AZ will have to play really well to beat them over the two legs.
Ajax should be able to beat APOEL Nicosia, although they obviously shouldn't think they'll win the game by simply turning up.
Right now I'd say Ajax and PSV to go through. Feyenoord are favourites against Beer Sheva, but are unpredictable. Antwerp are slight favourites in the AZ game.
Koji Miyoshi joined Royal Antwerp from Yokohama Marinos. So there'll me Japanese players facing off on opposing teams. Though Sugawara doesn't seem to have convinced the AZ coach yet.
Yeah, too bad AZ didn't make use of their home pitch advantage. I wouldn't put money on them going through since they gave up that away goal. As you said, Feyenoord and PSV should be able to advance to the group stage.
Is PSV playing Bergwijn in the #10 role now? He was easily the best winger in the Eredivisie last season.
Outstanding results from all three Dutch squads. PSV won away to Apollon 0-4 to win 7-0 on aggregate. Feyenood won 0-3 away at Hapoel Beer Sheva to win 6-0 on aggregate. And AZ had the Great Escape!!
Down 2-1 on aggregate away to Antwerp in Belgium, their young striker Stengs scored the equalizer in minute 90 to take it into extra time. In extra time, AZ scored 3 more times to win 5-2 on aggregate. It certainly helped that Antwerp had two men sent off for red cards at 35' and 74', but hey, that wasn't AZ's fault.
This is good. Ajax moved on to group stage in Champs League, and these three sides move on to Europa League group stage. Should help the Dutch coefficient.
