Dunga hints at Adriano recall to Brazil nat'l team

By Anthony Sormani, Special to SI.com, Goal.com

Brazil national team coach Dunga has hinted that exiled Inter striker Adriano could earn a recall for the Seleção.

"The Emperor" has had a miserable time of things at Inter over the past couple of seasons, and was allowed to travel to his Brazilian homeland at the end of last year in order to receive treatment for his personal problems.

While there, he signed on a six-month loan contract with São Paulo, and he has largely impressed, scoring 11 goals this season.

This form has caught the eye of Brazil boss Dunga, who has praised the 26-year-old hitman.

"He has grown and improved a lot with São Paulo," Dunga explained. "He had some problems at the start, but he is back to the old Adri that we all know.

"Without a doubt he has great potential if he becomes his former self because he is a strong and aggressive player who scores goals."

Adriano, who has not played for his country in over a year, has hit a superb 27 goals in just 41 games for the Seleção.

He also traveled to the 2006 World Cup, but like most of his countrymen, this didn't prove to be the best of experiences as Brazil crashed out to France in the quarterfinals.

He has been in great form...
but Adriano on the team, means we should prolly play with only 1 striker, or a system with lots of attacking mids, in order to get a lot of passes in for him. We do have a lot of att mids and Robinho kind of players it could definately wor, but with Dunga's 4-4-2 a Luis Fabiano-Adriano partnership might not really work

I agree with you there, William. Adriano SHOULD compete directly with Luis Fabiano, period. Anything other than that would be stupid.

And it was already stupid when Parreira did it, in the WC's 'quadrado magico'. So we've already tried that flavor of stupid, the least Dunga can do is offer us a different flavor.

Adriano is in his best form since 2005, what's not exactly saying a lot...

He still has a very long road to the Seleção, IMO, even if our options now are kind of limited.
