Gascoigne, DC United go separate ways

WASHINGTON, Aug 1 (AFP) -- Paul Gascoigne is once again looking for team to play for after his dream of playing Major League Soccer in America was cut short.
Gascoigne and DC United have agreed not to pursue contract talks, the club announced on its web site on Thursday.
Gascoigne, 35, had been training with the American east coast club for the past week.
"After long and involved discussions and having thoroughly considered all matters regarding a permanent, long-term move to D.C. United and Major League Soccer, both United head coach Ray Hudson and Paul Gascoigne have mutually agreed not to pursue a contractual obligation for the remainder of the 2002 MLS season," said United technical director Dave Kasper.
