Surely the best centre-back pairing atleast. Ferdinand and Vidic have created a phenomenal partnership over the last couple of years. I also believe that we have the best left-back in the world aswell in Patrice Evra. He is definatly one of the best players at the club. And, with upcoming world-beater Rafael, I strongly believe that United has the best best back four in the world.

United has also conceded the least amount of goals of all teams from the EPL, La Liga, and Serie A.

Rafael---Ferdinand---Vidic---Evra

Your thoughts?

Nah no heat today :moan:

Seriously, name me a more formidable back four at the moment... You really cant.

And Evra is with a doubt the best left back in the world at the moment. My opinion of course.

We just don't have a settled right back as of yet. Even still, the stats speak for themselves.

All the headers Vida gets on to is astonishing.

Yes.

They're only missing a Maicon or a Dani Alves to have a dream backline.

We are grooming our own Brazillian wonder fullback in Rafael.

Vidic and Ferdinand compliment each other brilliantly in the centre of defence. Vidic is big and tough enough to win everything in the air, and the floor. Vidic thros himself around with Ferdinand at the back doing what he does best. Sweeping up and using his speed to cover Vidic, as well as bringing the ball out of defence. Both are worldclass and their partnership is possibly the best of its kind in the world.

Patrice Evra is possibly the best in the world in his position. Lightning fast, tough, strong defensively and can get the ball, and beat players going forward. He is offers both an offensive threat and a defensive threat.

I think Rafeal is still very raw and far from being one of the best in the world. He is very good going forward though but I havn't been totally assured about his defensive ability thus yet. Still he has plenty of time to develop. I would say Gary Neville is still the preferred choice at rightback. Nev's may lost a lot of speed but he is still massively consistent. He will work hard for the team, lead, fly into tackles and be overall very solid on the defensive front.

I feel right now you could be right that there isn't a stronger defenisve line up in the world right now, although I feel there are a few such as Chelsea's and Barcelona's which are quite equal.

I agree that Inter backline is very strong. Walter Samuel is a wonderful defender, possibly the best player in the world at simply defending. He is great in the air, smart, great in the tackle, consistent and quick. Cordoba does cover with lightning speed and like Samuel is a very capable defender although on occasions his decision making is very suspect. Neither though can bring the ball out of defence like Ferdinand though so I feel that Ferdinand-Vidic is the stronger defensive pairing.

Chivu isn't good as Evra in my opinion. Chivu is a very smart player and a very all round player. He doesn't though have the defensive strength of Evra nor the speed.

Maicon is a wonderful player going forward, he is awesome in that aspect, better then Evra but he is suspect defensively.

I feel like I said that this lineup is very similar in terms of qualty then Manchester United but if you look at players comparably, United's seem a little stronger

Where abouts you at?

He probably is, yes. But on form, Clichy will is up there with him, maybe even better than and that is debatable.

Isn´t as good? Easy man. He maybe isn´t as good as LB, but Chivu can play in other 3 different positions where mister Evra would be completely destroyed.

I like Evra btw, but I don´t think he´s better than Chivu in general.

In Spain it´s said that the best defence in Europe is Real Madrid one: Ramos, Pepe, Cannavaro, Heinze.

I agree that I feel Chivu should move into the centre of midfield as that is where he would be strongest as pace isn't such a neccessity. Chivu in my opinion has the technical, defensive, tactical and physical abilities to be a worldclass centre midfielder.
