Given that Carlton have reached their lowest ever position in their History,Well it makes you wonder if Wayne Brittain should be retained or sacked,You can argue that he has'nt had best use of all his players and Luck has'nt been on his side or simply you can say 2 wins all season is simply not good enough it's time to try someone else.:)

Brittain is the unluckiest [email protected] in history.

Let's not forget he's been without Allan and Koutoufides all season and has also had to cope with long-term injuries to Camporeale, Whitnall, Ratten, Manton, etc ...

It's not going to happen but I'd like to see Brittain given a chance with his full squad - if he can get all his stars fit at once they'll be a force.

The prospect of a Ratten, Camporeale, Koutoufides onball brigade with McKernan and Allan rotating in the ruck with a fit Whitnall up forward is mouthwatering.

Id rather he didnt, hes a pretty good coach and was damn unlucky with the lack of personel he had at his fingertips, but with pagan perhaps available I reckon the bluebaggers may give him the boot, eade is also lurking........

I heard theres a fair chance allen will not be at OO next season

I'll disagree here with you DT
I think these players you have mentioned are old & past there best & the signs wer there last year when they made the finals on the strength of a good mid season run
I tell you am sure most clubs would not trade for any of them players if Carlton offred them maybe Allen the only one worth considering .
Britain IMO does not have the nouse to lift players, I think he is tactically weak & his body language is exactly the same as Tim Watson half way through his last season

I'd love to see Camporeale and Whitnall in the tricolours ...

If Pagan became available then all power to Jack Elliott and they should go for him, but I'd still like to see Brittain see out his contract with a fit and recharged squad, the two best youngsters in Australia and the best out-of-contract player added to the list.

Damien Drum got the sack from the Dockers after he secured the wooden spoon for them

It's quite controversial but it's possible that neither Big Jack or Wayne Brittain will be at optus oval next season,In my opinion he has'nt had a fair run but that may count for little when he is up for review like everyone else, brittain could well be part of the clean up at optus this season.

Yeah it's almost inevitable - I detest the ancient and archaic AFL tradition of the buck stopping with the coach regardless of circumstances.

Cripes, he's working with a salary-cap and a set list with no opportunity to cure the ills of a list that injury has destroyed - but in typical Aussie Rules tradition it's 'his fault' and he'll more than likely cop the arse.

Give Drummy, Brittain and Tim Watson the Lions or Power and let's see what happens ...

I bet they wouldnt do as good as a Terry Wallace , Danny Frawley , Chris Connolly or John Worsfold !!!

Tim Watson inherited a Grand finalist from 2 years back ( then ) he won 7 from his 1st 9 & then won 4 from 30 .....what happened ??? I think his techniques kicked in !!!

Stan Alves( had to be the portuguese blood ;) ) IMO was a great coach !!!

The mindblowing decisions to trade Lappin and Shanahan while delisting the Wakelin twins coupled with chronic underacheivement may have had something to do with it.

Remember the critical game was when they were up by 63 points at Waverley over Hawthorn and lost it - they've never ever recovered from that result and that was the catalyst to failure. All their confidence bled away after that.

the amount of injuries carlton has had this season has been amazing. eg. this week carlton only has 24 players to choose from.

when players are constantly injured all season such as kouta, allan, and you have major injuries like whitnall, campo, ratten, mckay, manton, hulme, its hard to get a team who can play consistantly.

however, what Brittain has done, or had no choice to do was bring in young players. thornton, sporn, wiggins, livingston, campbell, davis, pickering and prendegast all look like they can be senior players next season.

so brittain has worked hard this season to build up the youth in our side and i think that he deserves a go next year.

but if Pagan was available, i would choose him over brittain. but not Wallace, i dont like him as a coach.

If Brittain does get sacked it definitely will be a kneejerk reaction - The "I don't care if every decent player we have is injured/suspended - you still should've won!" mentality of AFL football is sickening.

It happened at my club with Robert Shaw - he built an awesome list (with a little help from his predecessor Graham Cornes) that looked dead certs for the flag in 1996 until everyone went down and he was given the arse. In the next two seasons with Mods, Robran, Pittman, Smart, Caven, Koster, McLeod, Ricciuto, Goodwin and Rehn up, surprise surprise! But I digress ...

With Eade and Wallace available, the first two kiddie-draft picks and the first mercenary-draft pick in the can and an embattled John Elliot under pressure there is no way Brittain will be at Optus Oval next season and he'll join Damien Drum on the scrap-heap.

Remember a few years ago when Drummy and Brittain were the two hottest young properties in coaching? It's a cruel world.

PS - Although I support Brittain and would like to see him continue at the Blues, I still for the life of me can't understand why he traded Massie & Nelson to us for Gallagher & Eccles!

Eccles is the Harold Miner of AFL Football (NBA fans will know what I'm on about) and David Gallagher was the worst player I've ever seen at the Adelaide Football Club - and that's an understatement.

DT you summed it up my friend, tell me something why don't you be a Footy Journo?.Also CUG raised some interesting points about Brittain having to blood the young players perhaps Britts' hard work and determination will be there for someone to take over with.Id like to know how Brisbane or Port would've gone taken the the players carlton had out this year,Voss out alone is a severe loss.

Who says I'm not? ;) ...

Just kidding! No, I entertained the thought of becoming a sports journalist but the TER (uni entrance mark) for Journalism in South Australia is 96.5/100 which is higher than medicine by virtue of extremely limited course entrance places, and I didn't feel like making coffees for years as a cadet.

I do have experience in published writing and editing so I'll see what happens :)
