he is not imperitive in my opinion, he could be a useful player in the USNT but do you really want a player who takes close to 2 years to decide on who to play for? I have a feeling whoever he chooses to play for he won't have that much heart.

they probably thought Sturgis would develop by now but he hasn't lived up to potential as he was taken by Seattle in the expansion draft. Apparently there is a decent American talent play for Hertha Berlin, Arguez.

Subotic holds a grudge against the US because he wasn't selected for the youth World Cup, not sure if you want to pursue a player who obviously holds some grudge. He really wants to play for Germany

too bad he couldn't play for his true dream team :pp

anyway, I was expecting it, but maybe colleges should think twice of bringing in foreigners to play sports. I mean I know college sports are now competitive and they have a lot of money at stake for schools, but its kind of a slap in the face to the people of Florida whose tax money probably went to pay this refugees' education.

he really developed in America though, say what you want about American soccer, but he used the NCAA to get a career in Europe and I'm sure he went to college here for free. To make a comparison, it's similar to the Simunic or Ivan Ergic case, except Subotic wasn't born in the States but he still used a system here which greatly helped his career.

But I will keep saying this, his biggest dream was to play for Germany, and who knows what kind of incentives the Serb FA gave him. The problem is 95% of the US don't care about Subotic or soccer, while in Serbia 95% do (well only when they're up :pp ;) )

edit: Oh, I wonder if he would choose CCCC if they got off to their usual start in qualifiers? ;) If that was the case, he would wait until he was eligible for Germany

wait, Subotic was part of the resident program in Bradenton?

that's even worse then...:lala: I thought he only played NCAA, but now I see he was also part of the residency program, which means he was 100% developed in America :howler:

At least with Rossi he made his decision before he was 16, even though it was disappointing to see him play for Italy, he didn't take until he was 21 to make it, he made up his mind while in high school

Maybe the residency program needs to do something the AIS does? Have every guy who comes into the program signing a contract that they won't play for another nation, but in America it's not as frequent as in Australia, because the residency program is also politically driven as well, I heard you family needs serious $$$ to get in that and the ODP programs, which is why guys like Eric Wynalda constantly rip these programs

but Rossi wanted to play for Italy since he was a little kid, there was no debate to Rossi, infact he rejected a US call-up as he played for Italy since the U17 level

With Subotic he was never really certain, in fact I'm sure he wasn't even confident making this decision. All directions point to Germany and he didn't get it, so he chose the next option, Serbia, a decent European side with some potential. If Serbia play to their potential, he will be more known. I mean look at Onyewu, he is a solid player but still in Belgium. I still think there is some discrimination against American players in Europe, and that's why they have to go to Scandanavia to make a name for themselves. It also doesn't help the MLS controls transfers, thats all political too!
