Thought I would make a thread to keep track on our promising under 21 side. Newly upgraded to a category one academy, that means we are now competing with the big boys at that level.

They play tonight against Sunderland for a place in the under 21 cup quarter final.

Players who are impressing at the moment are:

Alefe santos
Ivan calero
Kwame Thomas
Jamie Hanson
Tom koblenz
Farrand rawson
Alban bunjaku

Calero and Thomas have seen a bit of first team action so far this season, calero scoring against Charlton in the league cup. We've had success bringing players through the academy, let's see if any of these are the next will Hughes or Tom huddlestone.

Hendrick, Giles Barnes, lee grant, lee camp lee Holmes, izale mcleod, can think of quite a few we've brought through over the years, some have gone on to have better careers than others. Giles Barnes probably stands out at the biggest hype that went nowhere after derby, mainly due to injuries. Does he even still play?

Barnes is playing in the MLS with the Houston Dynamo. He is doing pretty well in the MLS, scored 11 goals this season

Thomas and santos started for nots county as they beat Crewe 2-1, Thomas was fouled for the penalty that gave nots the lead.

With Ibe back at Liverpool, must be a chance for calero or one of those two if they impress at notts to stake a claim to get on the bench.

Would hope calero gets some game time against Chesterfield, looked good in his appearances earlier in the season, great finish for his goal against Charlton.

3-0 win over Huddersfield in the final third development cup today., alban bunjaku, shaquille McDonald and Ivan calero with the goals. Hopefully calero stating his case for a game against Chesterfield with another goal, also noticed McDonald has a few goals to his name now also.

Alefe santos played for Norwich, Thomas was suspended after getting sent off after being subbed in nots county's midweek game, second yellow for taking to long to go off :howler:

Thorne played the first half, with no set backs it seems, a couple more run outs with the u21s and hopefully he'll be back in contention for the first team.

Incidentally we played stoke u21s in a league game and beat them 7-1 :)
