MUNICH, May 26 (DS) - The clouds are gathering above Germany defender Sebastian Deisler. The 22-year-old, who joined Bayern Munich from Hertha Berlin this season, underwent a knee surgery in the USA last week. In fact, it was the second knee surgery the defender underwent during the last seven months and his professional career is believed to be under threat, the German daily Express reported.
Meanwhile Bayern manager Ottmar Hitzfeld assured the 22-years-old defender of his support: "Deisler can count on our backing. We will do our utmost to make sure he enters the pitch again. Sebastian is part of our long-term project and he will give much pleasure to our fans."
Meanwhile professor of orthopedy Wolfgang Pforringer doesn't share Bayern manager's optimism: "If the player has sustained a serious knee injury he must revise his football ambitions as he puts his health under threat. "
