Good stuff. He won't be loaned out so that dashes the chances that we spend a penny on getting Ali B. early.

Good to see he wants to prove himself and hasn't given up and hopefully he'll get his chances with Buffel leaving. We simply can't afford him to fail and to go for peanuts after the investment we made.

Also some better news is that Pardo might stay. It's not certain yet unlike with Lazo, but surely it'd be better to stay with us than to go on loan with RBC or de Graafschap. Our central midfield needs bodies and with de Graaf, Ghali and Pascal ( :groan: ) we aren't too well filled there. If we can get Hofs now, that'd be excellent as Gullit surely will move Pascal to LB with so many midfielders and if he wants to use what he has, since we don't have the money to buy a lot of players.

Now spend the Buffel money wisely on one good CB or RB who can slot in immediately and we might have a chance of resurrecting this season! This could be a turning point in our so far rocky winter campaign, don't you think?

:D

I'm usually an optimist, but somehow this situation has got the best of me. I don't think Gullit will play the both of 'm much more than he does now. His initial "wie niet in vorm is, gaat eruit'' tactic has been long abandoned. Gullit's scared sh!tless already and will clamp onto a regular first 11 even more so as things continue to go downhill.

As for signings, so far we've done absolutely nothing worth mentioning. We'll end up losing last season's best player and will probably get someone a la Zwaanswijk in return.

I hope I'm wrong though.
Not sure if this is good news, if he gets any playing time it's  but otherwise he's wasting some good years at Feyenoord :(

Iemand moet hem daarop aanspreken. (sorry couldn't think of the right English term) Like you said someone from the management (preferably Wotte) has to talk to him about his trip to Italy where he basically knocked on the doors of all Serie A topclubs and asked for their "afval voor een prikkie" and failed miserably, someone from the coaching staff like Petrovic has to talk to Gullit and warn him about his silly choices and crazy approach to his players where he basically blasts them in public without changing anything.

It's in Gullits own self interest too since if he fails here, he'll only be able to apply for jobs in developing football nations like Qatar or China with an Aad de Mos like CV. That saying you wonder how big the influence of an assistant manager can be, since Van Hanegem whos charasmatic as Petrovic wasn't able to wake Advocaat up either :lazy:
Gullit's name is too charismatic in the football world. Whatever happens at Feyenoord, I doubt he'll end disappearing into the darkness of China or some other distant place. Rijkaard was also pulled in at Barca with hardly no experience and failing to win the Euro champs and degradation with Sparta.
I still reckon Rijkaard did well with Oranje. He couldn't do much that we decided to miss so many penalties, so his CV wouldn't be so bad. But you're right , I was probably being a bit harsh on Gullits job prospects. That saying I can't see Gullit ever getting a job in England after the Newcastle stint. Possibly Italy, for a side like Sampdoria where he played for would still want him ( Drulo would love this :D )
In Rijkaard's case; a friendship with Cruijff always helps. That's the only reason he could come in at Barca in the first place and also the reason that they didn't sack him already after the bad start he had there.

Yeah, completely agree with this. And I don't even rule out the possibility that he'll have success at some point in his career since it's a lot easier with a great squad, like Rijkaard is proving. Although in all honesty I think the real brain behind their success is Henk ten Cate (who also would have been great for Feyenoord)

And Gullit being an ex-Samp player could well affect his future career Wally, thanks for reminding me. :(
Also, I don't just blame Gullit, I think Petro and Wotte are just as guilty. Petro's all active but more than half of his time at F'noord he's kissing Ruud's ass as if it were made out of gold. And Wotte should have made some better signings like Mathijssen for instance.
