Cunningham latest doubt

Kenny Cunningham has replaced Jason McAteer as Mick McCarthy's biggest injury worry in advance of Saturday's final warm-up game against Hiroshima with McAteers' ankle apparently fully healed from the knock sustained against Nigeria.

McCarthy’s thoughts turned to a potentially more serious problem " Kenny sat out training he felt a strain in his hamstring and ewe didn’t want to take any chances" said the Irish boss.

"It was very tender when he woke up this morning and he's had some physio on it."

"He’ll have a couple of days rest first and when it settles down we'll see how he is."

"If he's not right or any doubt about his fitness I wont risk him on Saturday."

As for McAteer: "He's taken part in all the training sessions and he's fine - there's no problem", finished McCarthy.

Cunny is a very very solid deffender and we need him. Hope ya get well soon lad!
