Please tell me all you know about Deportivo Cruz Azul - the team, the fans, the culture, the history and traditions of this club.

Off the top of my head... originally an amateur team founded in the 1920s by workers of Cemento Cruz Azul... became a professional team in 1960... their last success was the Torneo de Invierno of 1997, which they won against Leon (when Leon goalkeeper Angel Comizzo took down Carlos Hermosillo and kicked him in the head)... also, if I remember correctly, one of their managers was kidnapped for a few months around 2005, and more recently their defender Slavador Carmona received a lifetime ban for doping.

Thanks for the info Tim.

I just went to Wiki and found out that Cruz Azul were the 2001 Copa Libertadores runners-up (losing to Boca Juniors in the Final on penalties), which is apparently the best finish for any Mexican team competing in the tournament. Cruz Azul also has 5 CONCACAF Champions Cup trophies - tied with Club America for the most won by any team. Not too bad.
