The leading candidate in the race to become Barcelona's next president has hinted that injury-plagued Brazil striker Ronaldo is in line for a sensational Nou Camp comeback. Joan Gaspart revealed on Friday that he had just met the player's agent. He said: "I spoke to Giovanni Branchini and asked him how Ronaldo was feeling and told him that the door was always open at Barca if I become president on Sunday."

Ronaldo has barely played a match for his current club Internazionale sinceFrance 98, when he put in a below-par performance in the final as the hosts cruised to a 3-0 win. But the Serie A club don't yet seem prepared to cut their losses on the player they signed for a world record £20 million in the summer of 1997. Inter president Massimo Moratti said on Friday: "We will give him all the time
he needs to recover, which might be from six up to eight months. "We don't want to rush things. He will return to competition only when he is in good physical and psychological condition. Only then will he show his great talent." The former World Player of the Year was in Paris on Friday to see specialists about the career-threatening injury he sustained in the Coppa Italia final against Lazio last November. Ronaldo was only seven minutes into a long-awaited return from another lay-off when he tore tendons in his knee-cap. Inter doctor Franco Combi, the club's medical-staff coordinator Julio Velasco and his personal physiotherapist Nilton Petrone have accompanied him to the French capital for further treatment. Ronaldo scored 38 goals for Barca in a scintillating season before falling out over money with president Josep Lluis Nunez. Talk of a return under Nunez's current deputy, Gaspart, is highly speculative but the imminent sale of Luis Figo to Real Madrid would free up £40 million. Gaspart, however, claimed on Friday that he still held out hopes of keeping the Portuguese midfielder in Catalonia, despite reports that Real have already printed Figo's name on the back of their No 10 shirt. Gaspart said: "Figo has told to me that he wishes to remain at Barcelona. A document exists signed by his agent. We will see what can be done on Monday."

Kluivert-Ronaldo(when healthy) would rock like hell!!!
Ronaldo has played with Luis Enrique, Rivaldo, Cocu, Zenden, De la Pena, Figo, Abelardo, Sergi, Baia and Guardiola (I wrote down all the players who might play for us next year). Everyone would love to see him. Kluivert and Ronaldo get along very well... He would be great!

I agree: Ronaldo, if healthy, back at Barca would be extremely cool.
Just imagine both Ronaldo and Ivan De La Pena back!!!

Like I said before: I can´t wait till Monday!
After this elections are over, the times of promises and speculations are also over (hopefully) and things will be done!

If Figo goes we need a BIG name player and providing he will definately get fit, Ronaldo would be that player. He was superb at Barca and would be very welcome back.

If Ronaldo is healthy, there's no doubt that he is the best player in the world!!!!! Dutch, I didn't recognize that Ronaldo had played with so many 'present' BARCA players, he would get along with them very well, they know each other, that would be really really really GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ronaldo always says that Barcelona is the city he likes most in Europe, he likes all the players and fans, but he was ALSO disappointed by Nunez.:( I think Barcelona is most suitable for him, he is superb!!!!!and everyone will welcome him, he was really soooooooooooooooo great and fantastic when he played for BARCA:D He is so young, I hope he can recover, back to his top or even better, this are the words from the bottom of my heart:)

However, I don't think that Inter would let him go, plus Ronaldo said that he wouldn't leave Inter until they win the title. By the way, Ronaldo should come, we will win the triple, La Liga, Champions League and Spanish Club!!!:D

Even he won't come back, I still hope that he will be the best player in the world again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That would be

Both still have many years ahead of them so maybe in the not so distant future they will be the tandem up-fornt at Barca, then they will be devastating.

Brazil - Netherlands matches are always a delight to see, when the 2 best no.9's the world are playing each other. :)

I know that all of you (Barca supporters) love Ronaldo very much.......and it's fine because he is the best on the world........if he ever leves Inter I would like that he plays for Barcelona - that's in his hearth! Just let him (GOD) to recover and to be the best again; even with Kluvert in attack.

Ronaldo will never leave Inter...if and when he does, he will go to Flamengo to finish his career....believe me, he and Inter president Moratti have a solid relationship, besides Ronaldo is a minority owner of Inter....his contract ends in 2006...he will then be 29....he will most likely head for Manchster United for a couple of years, before fianlly ending up in Flamengo to finish his career....

FORZA RONALDO
FORZA INTER!!!!!
