Sime started today and played 88 mins for Atletico. Great to see he's back.

Luka played all 90 for Real yesterday in their win to send them to top of La Liga.

Sime from what you read was not bad. Couldn’t tell he’s been out for a year.
Far from any good though.

Vrsaljko will start against Madrid at the weekend unless Trippier makes a miracle recovery.

Sime and Luka both start and play the whole 90 today in the Derby. Luka pulls the strings in the 1-0 Real win.

Sime looked good to me...got in some challenges, pick up a yellow, drew a yellow, nearly set up a goal off a cross. Good to see in only his second game back.

Trippier will be out for 4-6 weeks which means Vrsaljko will have a great opportunity to establish himself at Atlético.

I hope so.

You guys look like a complete mess now though. Zero offensive punch, what is going on? You might not even make it to the CL next year if this continues?

Experience lost due to generational change: Tiago (2017), Gabi (2018), Juanfran (2019), Godín (2019), Filipe Luís (2019), Griezmann (2019)

The lack of the old guard means an automatic weakening of the general structure which is completely normal since Atlético don't sign players from the absolute top level of quality. The experience of knowing exactly what to do inside a consolidated system is also something that can't be bought right away, it's something that's teached during a longer period of time.

Players who were supposed to replace lost: Rodrigo (Tiago), Lucas (Godín)

Primary goalscoring: Nobody's replaced Griezmanns primary goalscoring. It was supposed to be shared between Morata, Diego Costa and João Félix.

Morata has missed the biggest amount of clear cut chances in LaLiga this season but plays really well for the team. Diego Costa injured himself in Stockholm in pre-season against Juventus once he had finally entered his real ability again. Played with a herniated disc for several weeks in october and had to undergo surgery 2,5 months ago. João will have been out for a total of 8-10 weeks this season once he returns from his latest injury.

A good 12-14 points have been lost due to bad finishing.

Current injuries: Trippier, Arias, Giménez, Koke, Herrera, João Félix, Morata, Diego Costa

The main problem has been a lack of quality in front of goal, especially between September until December. Then the usual slump in form in January (usually calculated because of the periodic training) and the subsequent injury crisis.

Most important thing is to qualify for the Champions League.

Remember when you destroyed us in the preseason? I was thinking, what the hell is going to happen in the year...even though I know it didn't really matter.

And please at least draw Barca for us to take some points off them. )

At least its early Feb though, and he'll be back in time to play before Euros start....

But damn.

Speedy recovery Ivan!

Benkovic made his Bristol debut yesterday off the bench

Pongracic back to back starts Wolfsburg, although a bit under the radar in the Croatian press if you believe in analytics he has a promising future, especially his passing and dribbling ability

Luka with another great game today pulling the strings in a 4-1 win. Great through balls leading to 2 goals...and a very nice corner that led to another goal.

And I didn't watch yesterday, but I heard Sime was very good for Atletico.
