Rijeka were good for the opening 20 minutes but the goal changed the momentum

For US viewers, Hajduk-Everton will be live on ESPN Deportes and ESPN3 if you can't find a stream
super early, but pot wise where would you predict Rijeka land for the EL Group Stage? Pot 3 potentially?

At the moment they are 1 spot behind Pot 3, so chances are good but they need somebody above them to lose in their playoff (Ajax, Fenerbahce, BATE, Dinamo, Legia are likely candidates)

Dinamo 10 minutes away from an embarrassing elimination, though they will pull it out their asses as usual

Hajduk and Osijek doing nothing to give any hope of an upset, Hajduk working hard but yet to record a real chance on target while Osijek are being stifled by Austria

Dinamo out of Europe for the first time since 2006-07, with respects to Skenderbeu a pretty embarrassing elimination, they were also down to 10 men for 10-15 minutes. Dinamo will win the league easily now however

Good news for Rijeka is they move up to Pot 3 for the EL draw due to many teams above them going out (Fener, PAOK, Brugge, Dinamo etc..)

Hajduk at least exit Europe with a draw, Osijek into injury time in a tie they really should have progressed

Osijek out, tie they probably should have won and many things went in their favor (the draw and the fact the second leg was essentially a home game). Though they will gain more experience from this

So after all that euphoria and Suker praise only one club is in Europe, the only 'positives' from today was the clubs were unbeaten + Rijeka move up to Pot 3 in the EL draw. However, all of Croatia's direct rivals all have multiple clubs in Europe with the exception of Denmark

So after a promising start to the season Croatia ends with only one club making the group stages of the European cups, Rijeka in the 3rd pot of the EL after failing to make the Champions League, which really was the minimum expectation from them. Dinamo with an embarrassing elimination to Skenderbeu and they fail to qualify for the group stages of any Euro competition for the first time since 06-07. Hajduk and Osijek put in good performances today but lost their ties in the first leg. For Hajduk it was expected while Osijek probably should have beaten Austria Wien, but in fairness they surpassed all expectations.

RIJEKA
TNS: 2.0
Red Bull Salzburg: 1.0
Olympiakos: 0.0

DINAMO ZAGREB
Odds: 1.5
Skenderbeu: 1.0

HAJDUK SPLIT
Levski Sofia: 2.0
Brondby: 1.5
Everton: 0.5

OSIJEK
Santa Coloma: 2.0
Luzern: 1.0
PSV Eindhoven: 2.0
Austria Wien: 1.0

TOTAL: 15.5/4 = 3.875

Croatia have still gained the most points out of all their direct competitors for 12-15th but they along with Denmark are the leagues with only one side remaining in Europe. Also, despite three eliminations today they actually gained some ground on the pack but the burden is on Rijeka while other nations have multiple clubs. Another slight positive is leagues like Austria, Czech Republic and Switzerland have A LOT of points to defend, so once again the euphoria will begin next season in all likelihood, not that this season is totally lost

12. Austria 26.600 (2; Salzburg Pot 1 in EL draw; Austria Wien Pot 2 in EL draw)
13. Greece 26.600 (2; Olympiakos in CL with Juve, Barca, Sporting; AEK Athens Pot 4 in EL draw)
14. Czech Republic 25.975 (3; Viktoria Plzen Pot 1 in EL draw; Zlin & Slavia Pot 4 in EL draw)
15. Switzerland 25.000 (3; Basel in CL with Benfica, Man United, CSKA; Young Boys Pot 2 in EL draw; Lugano Pot 4 in EL draw)
16. CROATIA 24.750 (1; Rijeka Pot 3 in EL draw)
17. Denmark 24.200 (1; FC Copenhagen Pot 1 in EL draw)

Austria seem to be in the best position with two sides in the EL in the top two pots, Greece weren’t help by Olympiakos’ brutal CL draw where they might not even finish 3rd while AEK are in the bottom pot. The Czechs have a team in Pot 1 but two teams in Pot 4 which won’t help, plus Zlin is a debutant in Europe. Basel in the CL got a group where they can scrap some points but favorites to finish bottom while Young Boys will probably gain points in the EL, Lugano are debutants. Denmark is reduced to one side as well but Copenhagen are in Pot 1

Here are the pots for tomorrow's EL draw, strange how much these changed, teams like Nice/Hertha started in Pot 4 and moved up to 2, Rijeka weren't that far off from Pot 1. Very beatable teams in the two pots above Rijeka however some dangers in Pot 4 (Istanbul Basaksehir, AEK Athens, Slavia, maybe Zvezda)

POT 1: Arsenal (ENG), Zenit St. Petersburg (RUS), Lyon (FRA), Dynamo Kiev (UKR), Villarreal (ESP), Athletic Bilbao (ESP), Lazio (ITA), AC Milan (ITA), Viktoria Plzen (CZE), Red Bull Salzburg (AUT), FC Copenhagen (DEN)

POT 2: Steaua Bucharest (ROU), Ludogorets Razgrad (BUL), BATE Borisov (BLR), Everton (ENG), Young Boys (SUI), Marseille (FRA), Real Sociedad (ESP), Maccabi Tel-Aviv (ISR), Lokomotiv Moscow (RUS), Austria Wien (AUT), Hertha Berlin (GER), Nice (FRA)

POT 3: Astana (KAZ), Partizan Belgrade (SRB), Hoffenheim (GER), FC Koln (GER), RIJEKA (CRO), Vitoria Guimaraes (POR), Atalanta (ITA), Zulte-Waregem (BEL), Zorya Luhansk (UKR), Rosenborg (NOR), Sherff Tiraspol (MDA), Hapoel Beer Sheva (ISR)

POT 4: Apollon Limassol (CYP), Istanbul Basaksehir (TUR), Konyaspor (TUR), Vitesse Arnhem (NED), Slavia Prague (CZE), Red Star Belgrade (SRB), Skenderbeu Korce (ALB), Zlin (CZE), AEK Athens (GRE), Lugano (SUI), Vardar (MKD), Ostersunds (SWE)

Did not see the Hajduk game today. Shame they conceded such a freaky goal so early in the second half. Anyway from what i have read Hajduk played well and could have won this game. Vlasic Erceg from what I've read were the really good.

I thought Juranovic, Borja Lopez and Hamza Barry also had very good games. The Radosevic goal was one for the history books. Too bad Hajduk couldn't have at least got the win.

Rijeka in the EL draw get AC Milan, Austria Wien and AEK Athens

Its an ok draw, could have been better, but one where they face two direct rivals in the coefficient race. Milan is the glamor tie while they got a mixed bag in the next two pots. Austria was one of the better draws from Pot 2 but AEK Athens was one of the worst in Pot 4.

Rijeka's fixtures

MD1: AEK Athens (H)
MD2: AC Milan (A)
MD3: Austria Wien (A)
MD4: Austria Wien (H)
MD5: AEK Athens (A)
MD6: AC Milan (H)

So Milan at home is last, potentially when they have the group sealed up but who knows how seriously Milan will take this with top 4 in Italy being CL spots next season. Also will be interesting to see what Rijeka do in the remainder of the month, some rumors of players going but also coming

pretty damaging loss for Rijeka at home to AEK, they pretty much need to beat Austria Wien in both matches and either get a result in Greece or in one of the Milan games
