who would have easily won double-digits against the likes of Elche, Mallorca and Málaga

anyway, no, actually the standard opponents of him these days were Corinthians, FC SP, Botafogo, Flamengo, Cruzeiro, Internacional, Paranaense, Penarol, River Plate etc
naah not when we talk of league play, as over half of the clubs in Campeonato Paulista were some randoms, especially in late 50s when it was a 20 club league.

i mean seriously wtf:

no wonder he scored over a goal per game there

1.) Messi (5 Golden Balls) 'national top division player'
2.) Cristiano (4 Golden Balls) 'national top division player'
3.) Puskas (1 Golden Ball, 1953), 'national top division player'
4.) Pele (0 Golden Ball), 'regional top division player'

Those are the Top 4 Players of All Time, szov. Sorry to break the bronzed experience of Truth to you, but that's really the way it is. Pele is somewhat overrated szov, he's not 'The Greatest Ever' every astute football expert know this, including the glorious IFFHS.

Pele should have played in Europe in the 1950s and 1960s and 1970s in a top division league, but the Brazilian government selfishly kept him bottled up in a regional league in Santos to enhance Brazil's fame to Pele's possible career detriment.

yet most of the Brasil 1958&1962 players came from the Campeonato Paulista and RJ, lousy lil‘ regional leagues they were. or Uruguay league 1930/50, apart from Penarol, Nacional and Danubio what have they? you will probably also dare to bash the Magyar league of 1940-50s where teams like Dorog, Szentlörinc, Elektromos, Szolnok or Mogürt were around, however it was one of the strongest leagues in the world

the state of São Paulo has 46 million inhabitants now and had 17 millions at Pelés playing time, that‘s more than Hungary, Portugal, Netherlands, Belgium and can be compared with a medium sized European nation. furthermore, that state generated 9 Copa Libertadores (the south american equivalent of Champions league) winners and 8 club world cup winners. not sure why anyone would classify this as some minor regional league.

the „golden ball“ fa só is the most useless award in the history of foci
Its compared to spain actually

@Andy Christ : less, because it was only 16 teams. nonetheless, the world’s top scorer in one season is still my dad‘s mate Deák „Bamba“ Ferenc with 66 goals in 1948/49 season, for Szentlörinc of all teams :) Pelé scored many because he played in 4 competiions at the same time, Paulista, RJ-SP, Taça, Libertadores

Would you like to know my opinion about Puskas?

It's true Messi never won the Copa America or World cup.

He never really showed up at any event. That could be more to do with the coaches. They were lazy. Every forward pass was to Messi and they expected him to do everything. It often looks like that at Barca and rarely he actually does it. But in reality the forward line at Barca are making runs making space for Messi. The play if far more intelligent.

In the intensity of a major tournament you shouldn't play like Argentina have in recent times. That's why Messi constantly retires.

Messi doesn't have a bad record for Argentina. It's just at the very elite level he fails again and again.

Portugal on the other hand play as a team. Unlike Messi, when things go wrong CR7 doesn't hide. He has a hissy fit and then gets down to business.

Just look at the fire power Portugal have. Diego Jota. CR7 and Bruno! An attacking midfielder who is almost half as good as Szoboszlai.

Off topic: Hungary have to face the defending champs and I'm really worried. It could be a Rugby score. We also face France with what they have. Not worried about Germany...then dopers will cheat us again. Everyone know we are better and they have dirty tricks to beat us.
