Evening peoples. Those of you please post how counter attacking formations can be used at their most effective. What kind of of tatic? 442? Where does the center mids sit? striker/wingers it? extra.

If possbile use something like;

------- / ---------
442 - dimond.
-/ ---/ --/ ---/ ---
------- / ---------
---/ -------/ -----
--------/ --------
----- /---/ ------

Also, can you post what postin players should be in during defence and then on the counter?

Big ask i know but would be much apperected,

cheers.

Depends of what the players you have. But to play counter attacking it would be best if you have fast players in attack, or some guys that can run a lot with the ball( Ex: Kaka or McManaman

it depends ...do you want long-balls or fast build-up using the wings...anyways speed/pace is essential

Arsenal's look something like this if we're at full strength:

------- Lehmann ---------
------Toure -- Campbell ------
---------- Gilberto -----------
--- Lauren -------- Cole -----
---------- Vieira -------------
-------- Bergkamp -----------
--- Ljungberg ----- Pires-----
------------------ Henry -----

Err, you get the idea.

Formation doesn't matter you just need 4 full backs with 2 good ball winners sitting right infront of them in the middle and two grey-hounds on wings.

If your looking for a counter attacking formation it looks like this:

DL
DC
DC
DR

MC
MC
MC

AM
AM

ST

This formation is known as the 4-3-2-1. The best counter attacking formation is the 4-4-2. Alternitively you could copy Sven Erikson's tactics.:D

This is a good one if you have two good attacking fullbacks.

----------------GK------------------
---------------SW------------------
-------DC---------------DC---------
--FB-----------DM--------------FB--
---------------MC------------------
--------AM-----------AM-----------
---------------ST------------------

Or have 2 defensive mids that will move up once in a while, one attacking mid and 2 strikers.

i hate it when you make these formation threads as they are just stupid. espeically once you start getting into 2-3-1-3-1-2 or whatever formations. because what you don't realise is formations can not be that presice because once the game starts people are constantly moving from position to position.

If I could I would play that formation every time. GOLD

Jordan is an example of a team that uses the counter attack quite effectively. this is how it is set up

------GK------
RB--CB--Cb--LB
RM--CM--CM--LM
----CF----------
-------ST-------

this is how Jordan uses it. with the CF being the fastest player you've got. most of the other teams use the standard 4-4-2 but i think this is more effective.

Do you want to see how to play on counter-attacks? Just see the Romania-Argentina in WC94. A lesson of how to play on that way.

That's the way to do it. To have an effective counter-attack you need:

1- Sprinters who run quickly with the ball
2- Fast off the ball running
3- Swift one touch passing so that at most 3 passes takes you from one end to the other in a zig-zag or triangle pass fashion.

That is all. I consider Arsenal to be the best at the counter attack. They can be lethal on the counter.
