Of course it could.

Our games our at the end of each round, so you figure we can see these teams going home as a lesson, but it didn't work in the USA game.

Seeing how France and Arg are going home should serve notice to every team that everything is earned on the field. It should also motivate teams to try harder because this WC is wide open.

For example; by my reckoning, one of Sweden, Senegal, Turkey, Costa Rica, Japan, Belgium or Russia will be in the semis.

When you consider what's already happened; this is one wacky WC.
