Cort is off to Wolves for 1.5m according to Sky Sports News. It says that Cort was spotted at Wolves today and is thought to have undergone a medical.

1.5m looks like nothing compared to the 7m we paid for him but atleast its something.

Meanwhile Diego Gavilan is set to sign for Udinese before the window closes.

Heres the full story from Sky Sports:

EXCLUSIVE
Wolves are to open talks with Newcastle striker Carl Cort about a move to Molineux on Thursday.
The Premiership strugglers have approached Newcastle about Cort's availability and are hoping to sign the former Wimbledon star on a permanent basis.

Cort's agent Jonathan Barnett revealed to skysports.com that Wolves are keen on the player and that talks are set to get underway on Thursday.

"Wolves have declared an interest in Carl," Barnett told skysports.com.

"We have not held talks yet, but maybe tomorrow (Thursday).

"We will wait and see what happens."

Newcastle are willing to cut their losses on the striker, who cost £7 million when arriving from Wimbledon in the summer of 2000.

Cort has struggled with injuries during his time on Tyneside and he has not featured in Sir Bobby Robson's first team plans this season.

Wolves boss Dave Jones has held a long-term interest in the player and he tried to sign him last season before his side won promotion to The Premiership.

Jones is keen to bolster his attack, which is currently the lowest scoring in The Premiership, and he will hope that Cort can fire his side to safety if a deal can be agreed.

Good riddance. Hopefully with Cort's exit our appalling luck with buying awful strikers in the past few years is now 100% over...

The roll of dishonour:

Daniel Cordone
Paul Dalglish
Ian Rush
Temuri Ketsbaia
Stephane Guivarc'h
Duncan Ferguson
Andreas Andersson
Jon Dahl Tomasson

With Cort's wages off our books hopefully we can concentrate on bringing Chops, Offi and Calvin Zola through - and start looking for a proper Shearer replacement.
