Trnava standings is shocking for everyone who knows something about football in Slovakia. Last season, Trnava was challenging for a title, and this year should be a dark horse of Corgonliga. I expect them fully recover but they hardly erase 13 pts loss on Slovan they´ve collected in just 8 Days.

Their last home defeat to Vion 0-5 epitomised their poor start to the season.

if it´s ask you gender, just choose "muž = male" or "žena = female" on left/right, pick year of your birth, watch short commercial (different for males/females :D) and enjoy the vid.

thanks for voting. I´m alone curious how this season will look like. Slovan keeps winning in unconvincing fashion, which might be a either sign of winning mentality (hopefully) but also a result of current good form (which can change quickly)

With all the releases and no additions over the last few years, I have to believe the budget has only gone down for Kosice.

This year, with the knowledge of the 8 matches played so far, Slovan must be the favorite. Have they dropped a point since Slovak took over? Their only real loss from last season was Dobrtoka I believe.

Samuel Slovák´s still unbeaten, dropping points after away draw in Trencin.

Figured I'd bump this thread. 7 matches to go, looks like everyone who voted will be right. Slovan has clearly been the best team, especially after Slovak's taken over. Adding Soumah in the January transfer window was huge, too. They're stealing all the best foreign talent from the clubs who can't keep them!

Kosice has a fairly easy schedule here on out. A top 3 finish would be a great way to cap a surprising season.

Trnava meanwhile, wow. Looked like they were able to turn around their year when they hit another slump. They play Slovan this weekend, so it's a tough one to get some badly needed points. They made some of the bigger moves in January, too. When was the last time they were in the second division?

Winner of the league goes to the Champions League's 2nd qualifying round. 2nd place goes to the Europa League's 2nd qualifying round and 3rd place goes to the 1st qualifying round. The winner of the Slovnaft Cup goes to the Europa League's 2nd qualifying round as well.

The amount of European births is based on the UEFA league strength rankings, the Corgon Liga is 26th for 2013. The rankings are based on how well the teams perform in the European compeitions they do qualify for.

The part I'm now not sure about is the scenario where the league winner also wins the cup. I assumed before that 4th place would pick up the Europa League spot, but rethinking, I think the cup runner up gets it (unless they are 2nd or 3rd, in which case 4th place gets it). Simple, right?

Slovan made it interesting by drawing 4 consecutive games, maintaining 6 points lead ahead of Senica. Next Saturday, Slovan hosts Senica and if Senica wins, fight for title can remain still open.

3rd Kosice with 10 points less than Slovan are already off the title race.

Well, that's it. Today, Slovan officially won the league. With Košice's collapse, they found themselves booted from a Europa League spot. The team just wasn't as good offensively after the winter transfers, as feared. 2 goals over the last 8 matches, 1 win and 4 draws. Still a solid and surprising season for them though. The Europa League spots will go to Senica, Trenčín, and Žilina.

It pains me, but Kosice may have gotten terribly embarrassed in Europa League. It was a good showing, overall. But Kosice really need to fortify the club and make a more consistent run next season.

Unfortunately I don't think that consistency will happen with the current state of the club.

One last thing was decided for the league, Tatran Prešov lost 1-0 to Spartak Trnava in a match that determined who got demoted. Prešov got a red card and conceeded a penalty in the 1st half and that was it. Košice will be on the only team in the east next season.
