Coppa Italia: Lazio - Atalanta

Lots of games in short time right now and we have Atalanta coming up in two days in the Coppa.

Our main objective this season must be Serie A, so this is a good opportunity to give the chance to some of our players that usually don't play that much.

I would like to see De Silvestri get a shot instead of Lichtsteiner who has been very strong and maybe even try out Tuia or Diakite in central defence to see how they cope. If Rocchi is ready it would be a good idea to test him and give a rest to Zarate or Pandev.

Meghni is another player gunning for a starting role

Just play as many reserves as possible...I suspect Atalanta might do the same. ;)
Yeah let's play Berni, Mutarelli and Inzaghi. Maybe we can even call back Stendardo and Baronio for this match. ;)
Do we still pay Paolo *****'s back wages? :)

Seriously, though, I think we can field a line-up almost totally new from yesterday, and it's not a bad idea.

Muslera
De Silvestri-Rozehnal-Diakite-Kolarov
Meghni-Dabo-Firmani-Manfredini
Makinwa-Mendicino

Why not?
Because Makinwa might score a fluke goal and take out Zarate from the starting line-up, that's why. ;)
Also because Dabo and Firmani are supposed to be injured, maybe Dabo will recover in time though.
They're both in full training now...

Indeed why not ?
I would put exactly this line up, though I`m not sure how healthy are Dabi and Firmani.

Diakite and Mendicino should play by all means.
Time for our "reserves" to lift their ass from the bench (or the stands, or even from the beach sand, in Inzaghi's case) and move their valuable feet on the green pitch of the Stadio Olimpico. So, for me...

Muslera

De Silvestri - Rozehnal - Diakité - Kolarov

Manfredini - Meghni - Mauri

Foggia

Makinwa - Inzaghi
Inzaghi will probably get all sorts of injuries if he has to run for five minutes, let alone start a game after years of inactivity. Most 80 year olds are probably in better form than him.

Are you sure? ;)

It looks like Rossi has taken this match quite seriously and according to Epolis these are going to be the teams' line ups for tonight's game. By the way, any link to see the match in internet?
Probably Zàrate will play the first half and Pandev the second one.

I sure hope that won't be the actual line-up. Now that we're doing so well in the league, I wouldn't want to risk any injuries for the sake of a less important cup match. :stress:
Yes, it seems rather weird to play Ledesma since he is one of the players we can least afford to lose and never gets rested for Serie A games.
There is a break after the Lecce match because of internationals. That would mean a rest for most of our players and explain why Rossi wants this line up.

My thoughts exactly Boyo.

Especially Ledesma and Zarate should not be risk.

They are quite easily the most important pieces of our team now. With Pandev of course.
1-0 at halftime with a goal from Ledesma and crossbar from Zarate.
2-0 from Goran Pandev. Standing ovation for Foggia replaced by Dabo.
Full time, it's Lazio-Atalanta 2-0 (Ledesma 17', Pandev 85'). Next round is against Milan... Ah, clean sheet for Muslera, really something to celebrate.
Another nice win, even though I am not sure if it was wise to play Ledesma, Zarate, Foggia.
And it was actually Inzaghino with an assist to Pandev's goal. Wow. :)

It's still early in the season and there is indeed the NT break coming, so aside from the injury risk playing some of our starters wasn't that bad. At least there's no report of injuries...
