Red Star youngsters hope to qualify "Coppa Carnevale" last 16
BELGRADE, January 24 (DS) - The Traditional tournament "Coppa Carnevale" will be held in Italy on January 28. Belgrade's Red Star and Milan, Napoli, Torino, Fiorentina, Vicenza, Salernatina, Castel di Sangro, Reggina, Verona, Cittadela, Roma, Inter, Juventus, Atalanta, Brescia, Perugia, Lazio, Bari, Empoli, Palermo, Ternana, Piacenza, Parma (all from Italy), Feyenoord (Netherlands), Belasica Strumica (F.Y.R. Macedonia), Uta Arad (Romania), New York United (USA), Generation Foor (Senegal), Independent Santa Fe (Columbia), Arab Jerusalem Team (Palestina), Leicchardt Tigers (Australia), Bayern Munich(Germany), Anderlecht (Belgium), Slavia Praha (Czech Repubic), Desp. Capixaba (Brasil), Great African Stars (Ghana), Pumas Unam (Mexico), Maccabi Haifa (Israel), Deportivo Espanol (Argentina) will participate in this tournament. This year's "Coppa Carnevale" is the 54th in a row and is the most prestigious under-20 world team tournament.
Red Star's best ever young player is believed to be Miroslav Pavlovic, who's played 405 matches with the Yugoslav champions. The player performed at the same tournament back in 1965, when his team finished on the 5-6th spot. He considers this generation of the young players to be extremely talented, especially taking into consideration the fact how young they are.
18-man Red Star coach Jovan Avimovic is another former Red Star's player (he scored 116 goals in 516 matches).
The coach stated during a press conference: "Our rivals are very strong and this tournament will be a great opportunity for us to see the level of the Yugoslav and Red Star football. I would personally consider our performances successful if we qualify for 1/8 finals."
Red Star skipper Marko Plavestric, who already reveals traits of a genuine leader, presented his teammates at a press conference:
"I hope we'll make it through to the 1/8 finals. Our group is a tough one. We'll face Lazzio, Inter and Ghanaian national team, but we aren't going to give up. We are set to perform as well as we can."

I only know that Maccabi Haifa's backup goalkeeper Tom Almadon is a part of this squad. If you know his age and his team-mates from last season when he played for the youth team, then it's fair to assume the most of them will be there a well. :)

I believe that Kamal Jabarin and Shai Birok will also be part of that team.

Good for Shai. it's been reported Tottenham is following the player and that's his chance to shine and show his worth. the guy definitely has some talent to burn. :)
