Antigua and Barbuda earns first ever victory.

14.1.05 - Antigua & Barbuda earned its first-ever victory over Trinidad & Tobago after posting 2:1 win in a friendly encounter at the Antigua Recreation Ground in St. Johns on Wednesday.

After the first half ended scoreless and with many near misses by Trinidad & Tobago, it was Antigua & Barbuda that got on the board with a goal by Peter Byer in the 48th minute of the second half.

Nigel Pierre leveled the match (1:1) for Trinidad & Tobago in the 55th minute-mark, but Rowan Isaac had the game-winner for Antigua & Barbuda two minutes later for the 2:1 final score.

The loss ended the soca warriors’ 17-game unbeaten streak against Caribbean teams, with their last defeat coming on 31 July 2003 against Haiti (2:0) in Basseterre, St. Kitts & Nevis.

Trinidad & Tobago will now travel to Kingstown, St. Vincent & The Grenadines for the second-leg of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Digicel Cup Third Round Series B against the host on Sunday (16 January). The soca warriors have a 3:1 lead in the series.

Congratulations, Antigua.
