You guys sounded a lot more confident and pumped up in the Sevilla thread from what I remember. Do you guys have doubts? Nothing is Impossible...
I'm not pessimistic, but I'm not as confident as I was against Sevilla either.
The first reason is simple, Sevilla isn't a top class European side, just a very good one. Chelsea is, no matter what anyway says about their money or their Avram, they've been here at this stage for years on end.
The next reason is a little more tactical. Sevilla plays fast football which is a contrast to our preferred slower dictative style. We don't like teams who run at us that hard, but equally they don't like teams who dictate the game like we did against them. One team was going to run over the other, and when they're good enough, the team who likes to control the tempo usually comes out on top (Arsenal v Milan an exclusion, but it could be argued that Arsenal is better than Milan in terms of quality. Pirlo is quality but Milan were overly reliant on him, Wenger knew it and Ancelotti didn't).
With Chelsea, unfortunately I don't the match-up in terms of style. Chelsea isn't a team that will open up in defence, if they need to they'll defend tight for 180 (+30) minutes. Even if we dominate the midfield, that doesn't phase them, it makes little difference because they don't get impatient.
Put it this way, even though it's almost impossible to get the better of the Arsenal or Barcelona midfield, if we were against one of them and we did we could pull off the right result. Against Chelsea, we could end up dominating the match just how we want to and still losing, such is the football they play.
And dominating the match how we want to and losing has been a tradition at Fenerbahce until this season
