For those of you in North America, Northeast U.S. to be exact. ESPN Deportes (channel 173 for Time Warner Cable customers) will be showing the game live. I'll be at work but I will be taping the game. Don't miss out!
Also for people who can't watch the game live.
You can all thank the infamous firsttouch... he e-mailed ESPN, and managed to get the game on ESPN Classic on Tape Delay, which will be broadcasted right after the games that are Live on tv, and it will be in english too... Although I'm not really happy that I will be listening to a bunch of English guys in a match like Chelsea vs. Fenerbahce...

Because of work... I can't watch it live :fero:

Efsane Firsttouch

Oh, and for people in the west coast, Comcast is providing the game also on ESPN Deportes as well.

He's not playing

Thanks to our Physios who once again do a horrible job at diagnosis and telling us when he'll be ready.

Carlos was supposed to be ok 10 days after the first Sevilla match.. its been like 40
Appiah was misdiagnosed, and now he's gone
Deniz was only supposed to be out for a little bit more, but as the days go by it looks like he's out for the Season
Serdar Kulbilge was diagnosed wrong too, he took almost a month longer.

Piyer Arzuman or whoever should be fired, what a disaster.

The game ended 3-0 as far as I'm concerned...

But because of technicalities pff, 2-1 :D

I guess we just love to give other teams a goal...
give the games some adrenaline?

**** we have to stop doing that...

I'm borderline crazy right now...

I don't shower much

Ahmet Cakar

"I'll bet anyone 10,000 dollars that Fenerbahce will not qualify for the Semi-Finals against Chelsea"

I hate this guy, classic example of someone who truly talks the talk but wouldn't even think of walking the walk.

yeah sure, odds are still strongly against Fenerbahce, but stop this nonsense on national tv, it's embarrassing for all of us to have such an assface on tv.

I didn't want to see that jerkoff in a bikini anyway

How? Both goals were legit. They're blaming Carvalho for the first, when they should be praising Aurelio for locating Kazim and putting the pass on the money, then Kazim splitting the D and timing his run and taking that quality touch. and 2nd goal was a gem.
Are the foreign press not paying dues for Fenerbahce's performance? That's pretty dumb then
No they are really not. :googly:

I still cannot agree with the point (re: Turkish football), even if Fener advanced to the final and won it. (Porto did a few years ago, right?)

It owes a lot to the Zico syndrome and if Chelsea couldn't overcome it at the Bridge, they'd be the next prey. They study about the team, watching key CL and recent domestic games, alright. Who this coach is and how he manages. Fener have good players, but none to draw top European scouts willing to put €10-15m on the table.

They should thoroughly study Fener's starters in recent games and never take light of any element. And when Zico sends in someone, they should treat him as absolute menace who will turn the match all round to Fener's, even if he has none of the top-league pedigree. Because Zico, who looks like a half-retired gardener, can smell a winner and the team know it, unlike you, Grant, Jimenez, and Ten Cate.

It looks like RC and Semih will start against Kayseri, who claim they are deprived of G.Ünal and M.Topuz and have no interest in the league.

Im pretty impressed I read through this entire dribble. I don't think I ever found a point worth discussing about logically. I mean, sure, essentially you make fairly obvious and valid points such as:

"If Chelsea couldn't overcome it at the bridge, they'd be the next prey" - Referring to the "Zico Syndrome".

And your "Study of the team" and so forth.

Essentially you are speaking in terms of Chelsea's point of view, and discussing the formula for them to succeed and beat Fenerbahce, which is fair. I don't know if you want Fenerbahce to go through or not, that's really up to you, but have some balance in your post at the very least.

I don't think there is anything in your post that suggests anything really positive for Fenerbahce, other than riding on someone's 'syndrome'. In which case, I don't even know if you put Zico's syndrome in a positive connotation or not, or if you are just flat out claiming it's just a run, as luck would have it.

Another problem with the post is just not knowing what you're talking about. Claiming that none of our players would go for 10-15 million Euro's is just pure ignorance. Let's take a look at a few examples.

1) Elvir Balic, Transferred to Real Madrid for 15 million dollars, and I mean if we really wanted to get technical, we can adjust that for inflation and that would be approximately 19-20 million.

2) Jay Jay Okocha, Transferred to PSG for 17 million dollars in 1998, inflation adjusted, we're looking at 21 - 22 million.

3) Nicolas Anelka, Transferred to Bolton for 8 million pounds, approximately 10 million Euro's.

Just FYI I put down Dollar figures for you to try and strengthen your argument to no avail, I was seeing figures that were in Pounds even.

So, here we are. 3 players as an example.

First thing that comes to mind is, how did we sell these guys for so much? Well they are good, sure, Okocha was probably the best of the lot in terms of how much he gave to the team. Nicolas Anelka probably did the least of the three, but still scraped away with 10M.

In all of these era's, Fenerbahce has never been so successful Europe.. Ever.
None of these guys were in the top 5 of goal scoring or assist leaders in Europe. None of these guys have been selected in any sort of team of the week honor in European competition. Yet, they have been valued well within the constraints you provide us, that we supposedly could not attain right now with the current crop of players we have :).

What makes this claim even funnier, is the fact that we have a guy like Alex de Souza, who has literally tore apart the Turkish League for years, who is now putting in numbers in the Champions League that he usually does in Turkey (1st in the Assists category, where any world class playmaker should be), and we have Deivid de Souza, who has perhaps singlehandedly saved this team on multiple occasions with fantastic highlight reel goals, which will be a worthy piece of next years Champions League intro I assure you. Further, him and Appiah did a nice duet on our claim for the championship last year. Oh, and he's tied for 3rd among goalscorers in the Champions League, 2 goals behind the best Winger in the world right now.

You are telling me that none of these players will attract 10-15 Million Euro's? I think you need to seriously reconsider.

Zico looks like a half-retired gardener?

If that was in a negative sense as in, "even Zico, a guy who looks like a half-retired gardner, can smell a winner" see, like, I don't even know what you mean, I don't know if English is your first language, but if you live in the US, you should do a better job typing something, it's really difficult for people to understand.

At any rate, if that was a negative statement at Zico, then have some respect for a guy who has been nothing more than a punching bag for the media in his inaugural season at the club. Knowledge of the game, determination, and heart is what made this guy successful, no matter how poor of a gardener he may be. :rollani:

cenko43,

I'm sorry your English is too good to read through. Just a few points.

Grant faces real risk of failing against FB. I'm not going over his problems, but when that happens, it will be called Catastrophe rather than due to Fenerbahce's (or Turkish football's) might over Chelsea. Don't blame me for that. If Turks are happy, great.

You can argue me that FB players are on €10-15m level and can play at Chelsea or Arsenal any day. (I think you're not saying that, but I'm not certain.) I don't think Alex or RC will fetch that amount and maybe except for Lugano, there are no players under contract leaving FB for less than €10m. My guess is there won't be raids on FB squad in the post season. Of course, I could be wrong.

Lastly, if Zico's value were to be truly understood, Chelsea would study him much deeper, not just his words. I think they will be clueless and hope that will be the case.
Your first point is spot on. Although I think it would depend on the location in which these criticisms will come from. Surely England will be the place that will be the focal point of criticism toward Chelsea rather than Praise for Fenerbahce. But I think outside of the island we'll see praise for Fenerbahce.

2nd point. Well, I was more inclined on giving you the impression that they will bring their game if need be against bigger teams, and have shown that this year.

I think Alex has a high price tag, but luring him away from a team that has built a squad around him for the past 3 seasons won't be easy, so I don't see him leaving. As for Roberto Carlos, I think he's past the stage of being part of any big money transfer anymore, despite his everlasting class performances.

I agree that they have underestimated us, if I understand your last paragraph correctly. I'm sure they will be studying the tactic and dynamic of the style of play we have.

The nice advantage we have with the next game is the comeback of Gokhan Gonul, Roberto Carlos and perhaps a start from Semih over Kezman. Gokhan Gonul and Onder Turaci play completely different games, as do Vederson and Roberto Carlos, they may not be aware of what Gokhan has to offer. Nevertheless, the chances are slim, but it's been a good run thus far ;)

Bosanacc... although I have welcomed you back to the forums, you've gone out of your way to argue and kind of make a mockery out of yourself very quickly... I'm surprised to say the least. The whole discussion started off nicely, with you and everyone exchanging views... but as it progressed you've ventured into a "My thought is right and everyone else is wrong" mentality.

I remember talking to you about Bosnia and their economy back when I was a mod at SFN, and remembered you are the most difficult guy to talk to, because:

A) You don't make any sense when you start getting defensive.
B) You start nit picking and claiming someone is insulting you for showing a flaw in your argument when you are in defensive mode.

Don't start that up here man.

look at what the champions league has done to us.

Tolga is Firsttouch, Bengi thinks FK Sarajevo Sucks, Soner says he doesn't insult.

I haven't showered much recently...

This is out of control

Cenko, you're accusing me of 'starting shit up again' or making a mockery out of myself while all I did was defend myself from what is obviously an insult by Seytan. If I was to step down to Seytans level, I probably could've said something like..

"Leave this discussion for civilized people because you should better go and reminisce on how things used to be in the stone age"

Right?

- As a possible response to his claim that I can not look at a situation from two sides or that I should go and pop eccies.

Either way, I think the one you should be talking to is the guy who resorted to low grade slander after he decided not to continue the discussion. I do realize you know Seytan and respect him a lot more than myself, which is evidently the reason why you're blaming me for his short-comings.. but I refuse to take blame for something that is not in any way my fault.

PS: I was not even defensive -- I, in fact ignored his low grade slander and kindly corrected him without going on the offensive. How can you possibly blame me.. for.. well, defending myself in the vaguest of ways?

I will ask you kindly to look at the posts after this response of yours and tell me.. who is(are) unreasonable one(s) here?

It's obviously not me.. and if not me-- than it's both Seytan and you. As you can see, I have a reason to go on the offensive just by looking at the posts in the previous page, but.. unfortunately Seytan - you are not worth it. You told me all I need to know about you, so quickly -- that it saddens me as how fast you gave it all away :(

I thought that, you'd have learned.. after 'at least' being in this forum for so long.. the importance of keeping personal shit or grudges to yourself and yourself only.

@Seytan and ..those others: The immatureness you people just showed there is ridicilous, but how can one of you who showed such childish behavior make it sound like you're older than me? Haha, man.. you know, here's an advice for you - if you're not true to yourself.. you can't be to anything. Even this, very, discussion.

2nd PS: @Cenko42, You were at SFN, when?

Also, I absolutely love how many assumptions you guys made about me just because I have a different opinion that most here. Being outnumbered does not mean I'm wrong, or that I can't be talked to. Or that I can't think. :howler:

You know.. Maybe the established conformity here is wrong...
Point 1. You take shit to another level. Your response says it all. It's not a negative thing, but sometimes people can't be bothered to read so much if its focused on explaining your actions, in which case, get's boring. Don't waste your time trying to explain yourself to just one member, when all other members are still discussing the topic with you, i.e. Yenibey, Kerem1903.

Point 2. You don't know my take on the foreigner limit, so there is no conformity on my standpoint, and if you actually look at the Turkish Leagues forum there has been a thread dedicated to this topic, (many for and against), it's quite divided.

So instead of going into a Fenerbahce forum and talking about it (As the foreign limit would essentially benefit us the most in this league), I would take it up in that forum to get a better consensus.

I was serhat09 in your forum. But i didn't stick around very long because I felt like it was modded by a bunch of 12 year olds.

I'm not getting upset, so don't get defensive over this lol. I'm just trying to keep things in perspective.
