Over the next week and a bit we will be seeing some dramatic events surely. At this stage last season Man U were lucky to escape from Rome with an away goal, but a week later totally ripped a new hole into AS bit of Roma. Milan were also knocking out Bayern Munich. Can it be a coincedence that Barcelona play a German team? and could have 3 English teams in the SF, similar to Milan... maybe so, maybe not... on barca's form, they must watch out for Schalke though, not as easy as they may expect.

In any case this years QFs should be a good watch. Probably most intriguing is Roma - Man Utd... but certainly the All english clash is being hyped up, particularly on these shores.

I am betting on 4 draws for the first games. lets see.

Senderos is truly awful but I just feel chelsea will get through against us (Liverpool
) just becos they of the law of averages...surely?
Me too, I just don't have the feeling this time that we'll make it through. Semi final is a great achievement anyway.
He 'touched' Babel who was already on his way down. If this is a penalty then I give up watching football.
It's a debateable penalty, 60/40 for me, so I would say it was. Babel did go down easy, but he was impeded by Toure doing something which is outside the rules of the game. Shoulder to shoulder, different story.

Basically Toure is an idiot for doing that. Especially as when said before, Babel still had an awful lot to do, he made the decision making process Babel normally finds hard very easy indeed.
Btw, no one mentionned it, even if we all prefer Arsenal and would want them to win instead, I take it you all agree that Pool was clearly the better team in this game? Thats rather evident, but no one has mentionned it so far.

Torres sniper goal was upstaged by Walcott sick run though. Friggin shame that didnt put his team through.
Babel was impeded by Fabregas not Toure... people need to get their facts straight... the foul was caused by fabregas... how can Toure give the penalty away when Babel was already off balance and falling to the floor like a mug anyway.
Torres' goal was thanks alot to Senderos standing about 6 yards away from him  Great finish of course.

:howler:

We've won league titles playing great football and maintaining a consistent level through a 9 month period.

You should try it once, and not just be a pathetic little cup team.

NB. I'm still expecting to read on uefa.com any minute now that Liverpool's wish of getting the 2nd leg semi against Chelsea moved around so they can play at home. It would not surprise me one bit. You've got UEFA in their pocket, this isn't a one off. It's in 4 games in a row this season only.

I beg your pardon? :googly:
Some things dont need to be justified because they are as clear as day. And one of those things is that, that was not a penalty.
Yeah, wanted Arsenal to win, Liverpool deserved to win. Arsenal were on top for 25 mins at the start and maybe 10 mins in the 2nd.

And Walcott's run is one of the most exciting things I've seen this year.

Great game overall, best game between members of the big four this season, by quite a large margin. Probably the CL game of the season. Drama, skill, debateable decisions, timing, insanity, had it all.
Virtually all the "neutrals" here has been made it clear they preferred Arsenal, except you, so scusi if that included you but I didnt mean to.
Would of been a great game if it was not decided b/c of a bad PK call at the very end.
Unfortunately tomorrow there will be no drama. Pretty much wrapped up in tomorrow games. The final will be Barcelona - Chelsea, which measn you guys should bet on Man Utd - Liverpool.

Great post. I especially loved the generalisations and untruths. The way you substantiated your argument was incredible. I also enjoyed the use of the thumbsup smiley, as if you needed to assert yourself.

Seriously, you should try winning the title one of these days, it feels great.
I would not bet against Man U at this point. They seem to have found the killer instinct in Europe they've been lacking.

Was about to post that. But of course, we're the most boring team in the CL, yet we produce the best games in the last few years... :D

Nah, Final will be Chelsea - Man U.

You get decision, after decision - domestically and in Europe. On the rare ocassion that you don't, the referee apologises to you and a minutes silence is held in the city centre.
who was talking about this season? no wonder he apologized did you the his decision?

Peaked too soon... I expect Barca to go on a 10 game winning streak from now :pp
I think the only reason they lost last season was they played a very Euro savvy team. I don't think Barca have that same level. Not that I don't see them beating Man U (60/40 tie in my opinion), but I don't think they can do a Milan to them in that fashion. Plus Uniteds big players have a years more experience, and Ronaldo and Rooney are now consistent performers on the Euro stage, which they weren't at this time last year.

Chelsea won't make it.

With them in the same side of the draw as Liverpool, they've no chance.

UEFA have made it clear who they want to win this thing.

And with United's constant bad luck and injuries at this time of the year I wouldn't count on us being there either. I'm just glad we'll see at least one footballing side present, not ruling out Roma yet either.
