Over the next week and a bit we will be seeing some dramatic events surely. At this stage last season Man U were lucky to escape from Rome with an away goal, but a week later totally ripped a new hole into AS bit of Roma. Milan were also knocking out Bayern Munich. Can it be a coincedence that Barcelona play a German team? and could have 3 English teams in the SF, similar to Milan... maybe so, maybe not... on barca's form, they must watch out for Schalke though, not as easy as they may expect.

In any case this years QFs should be a good watch. Probably most intriguing is Roma - Man Utd... but certainly the All english clash is being hyped up, particularly on these shores.

I am betting on 4 draws for the first games. lets see.

Toure brushed his arm, Babel just has brilliant acting skills.
It was a brilliant game regardless of the controversy (although i feel Toure did make contact with Babel) and although im not necessarily fond of Liverpool but they did play well today and what a cracking goal by Torres.

Having said that, i will not watch one minute of their game with Chelsea. No way :D
You seem to have an agenda here. I am a bit unsure what you thought he would do, stand still and wait it out?

Why would I have an agenda? I couldnt be more of a fan for Arsenal sympathy wise without actually being a fan. And I absolutely cant stand Rafa, his football and his Pool viewing wise (respect the club in general though).

Toure (and initially Cesc) had contact with Babel all the way from just outside the box (you could argue this is where Babel started losing his balance), until they went into the box, Toure flapping around like a fool and slightly hindering the balance of Babel. This is no straight dive and Toure being all innocent, believe so if you like.

You could argue if its too lenient of a pk case to give at the dead of a big game, but it defenitely has a case for the pk and the foul.
Grant plays waaaaaaaaay worse football than Jose from what I have seen, most of the team haven't got a clue what they're doing. Terrible team at the moment, Liverpool should steamroll them really if Rafa grows a pair.
That is what will make them go through though;)
He hit him about as hard as a autumn leaf. If anything it was a foul by Fabregas OUTSIDE the penalty area. Toure just ran in and possibly caressed some part of a Babel that probably wasn't very interested in standing up.
Exactly. No way this was a penalty.
You cannot give an easy penalty like that a few minutes from time to allow another side to win. You just can't. If Babel cannot withstand a little brush such as that he has no business in the Premiership, let alone football in general.

I just don't know what's more annoying. This match or the match in 2005 with the phantom goal.
Disgusting. Cheated out of a semi-final. It's not just tonight's phantom penalty, but don't forget the CLEAR PENALTY ON HLEB IN THE FIRST LEG.

There's nothing else left to say. Cheated.
No way it was a penalty. Its obvious that the Gods, destiny and UEFA had already decided on another Liverpool-Chelsea SF in any case. It was an FK because I admit Fabregas did pull back Babel (stupidly) outside the box... but Babel ran on a couple of strides then decided to fall like a sack of potatoes into the penalty box at which point Toure accidentally touched him while he was on his way down. No pen. Hleb's was a much more blatant pen and again I can't believe Arsenal didnt go through here after taking the lead.

Senderos is the worst defender at this stage of the CL and Eboue is the most useless player left.
I don't understand why anybody would want a Chelsea - Liverpool quarterfinal. Anybody can see that has been the worst two leg affair in Europe for the past four years. Not good for UEFA, not good for football in general.

That was defenitely a clear pk case for me. Pool has indeed been quite lucky with the decisions to say the least.
I thought it was a penalty, contact maybe started outside the area but Toure was still tugging on Babel in the area, why he'd do that when Gallas seemed to have Babel covered and Babel's final ball is normally erratic to say the least, I have no idea.

Money talks.

Agreed. At the least even if you think it wasnt a pk, I dont get why no one is criticising Toure's erratic behaviour. Really foolish.

They are starting to build up now :scared:, won't be surprised if they go through 1-0 again against chelsea with a goal that is on the line again.

Let's not forget the joke decisions that conditioned BOTH Inter games in the last round. It was 0-0 on both occasions when the red cards happened so Liverpool didn't score against a full team.

And it's getting even more blatant in this round with the penalty calls going in their favour. It's making a mockery of the Competition.

I wonder what's gonna happen in the Semis, Chelsea have the 2nd leg at Stamford Bridge....are Liverpool gonna demand to have that changed?

****ing cheating vermin.
So... we'll see a Manchester United - Liverpool/Chelsea final. ;)
Regardless, any arguments about cheating over what is at worst a debateable decision are ridiculous. If Toure isn't being a retard (and I've been one of the biggest Toure supporters on here over the years), then there's no decision to make.
I believe Barcelona will win this like AC Milan did :D Hopefully it is Chelsea in the final even if I find them boring as hell... it would be something different and they havent been as lucky.
but Toure was still tugging on Babel in the area
What? He even put both his arms up to make it more clear that he wasn't tugging anything.

Why doesn't Babel fall over at Cesc's infringement but a brush from Toure and he's down? :howler:
Money talks.
The Americans and the Russians are certainly good at making things happen in world politics.
