CL QF Discussion Thread

Over the next week and a bit we will be seeing some dramatic events surely. At this stage last season Man U were lucky to escape from Rome with an away goal, but a week later totally ripped a new hole into AS bit of Roma. Milan were also knocking out Bayern Munich. Can it be a coincedence that Barcelona play a German team? and could have 3 English teams in the SF, similar to Milan... maybe so, maybe not... on barca's form, they must watch out for Schalke though, not as easy as they may expect.

In any case this years QFs should be a good watch. Probably most intriguing is Roma - Man Utd... but certainly the All english clash is being hyped up, particularly on these shores.

I am betting on 4 draws for the first games. lets see.

You have to reach them in order to lose them. Hardly something that your club knows about though.
Huh? They have reached the CL final remember and other cup finals obviously.

Anyway, Fergie is a bit of a euro bottler... doesn't trust in his talent to play their normal game so forces them to play something they're not comfortable with. They are essentially playing with no one in front. Rooney is wide, Ronaldo deep/wide and Park... who cares. Don't get his selection sometimes.
lol, Man Utd have the luck with them on this one. Still Roma look pretty worthless at home... Man Utd play without any forwards and they conceed two at home? :wth:
Playing defensively and cautiously is one thing, playing the way you did last night - 9 men behind the ball and hoofing it upfield to Torres all the time is completely different.
Thats more than Roma managed... and they were at home.
We had 4-5 very good chances, Liverpool had one.
What were they? I don't recall any real chances.

And if as Arfy says Liverpool had two chance away from home, and you had two more at home... hardly night and day difference.
I thought you did OK when getting to the final third, then just choked every time and/or Man U's defence cleaned up. I don't think you did any better than Liverpool quite obviously.
The ref for the Chelsea game has been a complete joke so far, every decision going fener's way to a hilarious degree. :googly:
Most people seem to think quite the opposite, but an opnion is an opnion after all +
Well agree to disagree and say the ref is shit all round. :)
I will give Grant the benifite of the doubt in that he might not want to play bunker football like Mourinho, but the evil entity that is Chelski+Pool is nothing you can controll.

I will seriously try to avoid both legs of this tie. I must learn my lesson and stop being a sadistic ****.
Grant plays waaaaaaaaay worse football than Jose from what I have seen, most of the team haven't got a clue what they're doing. Terrible team at the moment, Liverpool should steamroll them really if Rafa grows a pair.
That is what will make them go through though;)
Hopefully, would rather see a Barca/United final with Chelsea... that combination of teams usually make very good games. Although this Grant team, you can see the players have no desire to perform under him, its like they're forcing themselves to win for their own sakes than for the team. So disjointed, they'd be pretty open to all out attacks which of course means they have to attack.

And I thought it was a pen too, Toure jumped on the back of Babel ffs... why is he doing that if not to obstruct Babel? By the law of the game its a pen, Hleb should have had a pen too which is neither here nor there. A lot of hate for Liverpool, fair enough they aren't exactly Brazil circa 70's but its a little exaggerated dontcha think? They scored 5 goals over two legs, not the stuff of boredom. Although I was hoping Arse win just so we'd miss the semi-final shitfest.
http://footballocks.net/index.php/1289/liverpool-vs-arsenal-highlights/

Highlights.... Toure just jumps over Babel to interfere with his run, if that happens outside the box its obviously a FK. Really quite silly.
How does the ref explain to his bosses he thinks thats a penalty when you can clearly see the tackle from the side sends the ball travelling to the side... he was right there watching it. Refs are so rubbish these days. The Toure one was soft, this was... just weird.
lol, Dimitriy lay off the vodka and go have a sit down. You're showing yourself up big time. :howler:
Yes, they have been awesome? LOOK at the Man U team. Roma have managed to pass it around in front of their back four a bit and do absolutely sod all, meanwhile Man U have had chance after chance with the likes of Park and Hargreaves ffs. Roma should be embarassed.

Name Roma's chances, dangerous my arse.
Nevermind, England rules, Italy sucks. Happy now?

Shut the hell up if you can't have a mature conversation, I'm saying how it is since I started watching while you're spewing your biasness all over the place.

That penalty was dangerous, De Rossi with a backheel shot in the penalty area was dangerous (if he was positioned differendly it would have been a goal), that Vucinic shot a few minutes ago and Casetti almost getting the rebound was dangerous while United hasn't shown anything (I repeat since the 35th minute) and yes I know they're playing with almost their B team but that is not the point.
Whats England got to do with it? Or Italy? I didn't mention anything like that once, does someone have a complex?

So I didn't tell you to shut up, but you tell me to shut up and have a mature conversation... :googly: Is this some kind of debating tactic, try to confuse me with nonsense? If you have failed to see all the man u chances that is your problem, there is no opinion about it.

The penalty was a bloody farce. That backheel had no threat whatsoever, it travelled as fast as this Roma team has frozen. Are you seriously unaware of all the Man U chances? Well I can't MAKE you pay attention. Anyway, 1-0 to Man U... as they somehow manage to score despite the huuuuge domination of Roma. :wallbang:
So just to be clear, Park, Hargreaves, Silvestre, Pique, 'Giggs', an unfit Rio and now O'Shea and Gary bloody Neville in midfield. Funny stuff really, usually when Fergie pulls this BS he gets punished for it and promises to 'never do it again'.
You don't have to mention it. Knowing your post history and how biased you are in favour of English teams + the fact that you attacked me because I said Roma was more dangerous since the 35th minute tells me enough.

The fact that you disagreed so hard with my post and made it seem like utter garbage showed me that having a mature conversation with you is impossible. Unless you weren't replying to me with that, in that case I apology.

Anyway I'm off.

Congratulations to United
My post history of England V Italy? Please provide this 'history'. What you have basically done is pulled statements out of your arse to justify you attacking me, for what? You haven't even watched the game by your own admittance. Where did I attack you? QUOTE me, it is a lie. YOU are the one that tells me to shut up, and makes up a post 'history' that you pulled from the ether. Character assassinations, lies and trying to tell me to shut up... then whining about me being mean to you? What bit offended you? I disagreed to the extent I would disagree with someone who claimed Brazil can't play football, with great sarcasm.

Because what you said was in such opposition with reality. What you said made no sense to me, I said as much, I can't sugar coat that as the opinion was tosh in my opinion. That however doesn't mean I am attacking you, I had no opinion of you and frankly didn't care (I don't know you). Now I know you lie and distort things to suit your needs, I will try to remember that in future.
