Our team is not full of kids. And they are starters in our team. But in a European knock out stage. These teams are playing a reserve team. And any club who do that should get a ban.

Dude, you can argue and say the same thing about how EPL teams field 2nd string players in the FA cup and the League cup until later stages in the competition. You can not simply put any rules, because rotation is part of the game and if they impose a rule on that it is like tying managers both hands and legs and asking them to pole vault. It is really hard to do and some managers decided that certain competiotions are more important than others during the season.

What I don't get is that these sides strive to get into Europe...only to then disrespect the competition and play a weakened side. Not that Villa and Spurs wouldn't go out anyway. They're not that great.

Villa couldn't beat a CSKA side that hadn't played a competitive game since November.

Financial reasons play a big role, the whole packages and TV rights are important but as soon as they get that they do not care anymore unless it becomes serious and they consider it as a priority along the season.

Italian teams regulary put out reserve sides in the UEFA cup too. Milan would if we didn't have so many injuries.

You'd think that after a few years of this happening UEFA would take the hint and increase the financial rewards for advancing in the UEFA Cup. Right now, from a finacial point of view any team would be crazy to try too hard in it if it has a shot at making the CL next season, so of course Aston Villa would rest the starters.

Money. If Aston Villa or Spurs were midtable and had nothing to play for in the EPL they would put their first teams out. Aston Villa are in the CL mix, Spurs have to make sure of staying in the EPL. The Uefa Cup is just not lucrative enough financially.

Sampdoria are another disgrace then. Not just kids but left the best two players at home.

Tottenham will all that cup tied players would not have many chances against shitkar.

Villa is 50-50 because cska lacks match fitness.

Metalist is better than Sampdoria, that's all.

Spot on, the only teams taking it seriously will be the one's in a comfortable position. So Wigan, or Fulham or West Ham could do it this year, because they're not pushing for a CL place and they won't get relegated.

Everton would have been the big team this season, but they ran into that inspired Liege team with Axel  Witsel  in it.

Well, quite frankly... finishing 4th in a CL spot >> UEFA Cup

Sad but that's football in today's world.

Stop moaning, they're under no obligation to field a strong team. They qualified based on their performances last season and can field any side they wish. If they have other priorities then they can choose to field a weakened side. Bolton 2 seasons ago reached the quarter finals playing their reserves, which is further than Depor have gone this season playing their strongest side. Since the 1990s teams have started to use their squads, and rotated accordingly. The teams that win the competition generally are those who know how to balance correctly to play across 3-4 competitions.

But if you're not going to take it seriously, why even bother to enter? Might as well give the spot up and give it to a side that will take it seriously.

Managers say the UEFA Cup is devalued, its partly because of sides from the big 3 leagues playing reserve sides that it is so devalued. That and the ridiculous decision to let a 1/5 of the major league play in the 'Champions League'.
