TV3 announced that Barcelona reached an agreement with Christian Poulsen, the Sevilla central midfielder.

The Danish player of Sevilla has a buyout clause of 10M € and his contract expires in 2009. Barcelona will try to negotiate with Sevilla to make the price lower.

This signing pretends to reinforce the central midifield, since Edmilson will probably leave the team at the end of this season.

He's 28 years old. In my opinion, he's that kind of defensive midfield that makes things easy. IMO, his strength is the defensive aspect, essential in his position. We all know him. We can't expect that he will build the game from the midfield, but he's not awful with the ball. He makes things easy, keeps the position and helps in defense with a good tactical vision.

If this is true, I think he comes to reinforce one of our weakest places. I think Yaya Touré will be the first choice, but nowadays he's the only reliable player we have there. Edmilson will leave next summer, so we need someone in this position, since we can't only depend on Yaya Toure.

Knowing that he's just a hard worker, I think it's a very good signing to have a squad to compete in 3 different fronts.

Well, if we want a destroyer in the squad, there's few people more destructive than Poulsen. Just read the 'discipline' part of his wiki. We could use a 'dirty' player though, Xavi and Iniesta are too honest and clean. Deco at least comes up with some professional fouls every now and then. I know it's not a nice thing to encourage, but they're not injury inducing or anything. Just shirt tugs and ankle taps, things that need to be done when the going gets rough.

Can Dani Alves defend ? Dunga must be a fool for not playing him.
Alves is a winger masquarading as a defender.

He will come to Barca as a squad player for sure...
He will try to play as much as possible but at the end of the day he will be the cover of yaya and sometimes he could be very useful as "2nd" DM against tough teams...

He is the player we dont have right now and its always useful to have different type of players in the squad (now we just need a coach who knows how to use the different types )

He is not expensive, he gives us more depth in midfield and offers something different so why not?
