Cristian Chivu has pledged his future to Ajax, despite his performances in Euro 2000 impressing a number of potential suitors.

Chivu scored the opening goal in his side's 3-2 win over England, has been linked with Inter, Juventus, Deportivo La Coruna, Sunderland and Real Zaragoza.

"I want to remain at Ajax until the end of my contract," said the talented full back, in the wake of reports suggesting that Deportivo would splash out £7.25 million in a bid to bring him to Spain.

Ajax have also reaffirmed their desire to keep Chivu at the Amsterdam ArenA, and he seems set to continue learning his trade in Holland.

A proposed move for Norwegian left back Andre Bergdolmo apparently does not affect the Amsterdam outfit's desire to hang onto their young Romanian.

i will give it one more year before chivu leaves...if he plays well again, he will definately get a great offer from a great club. the reason is, now that everyone has seen him play, he will get scouted this coming year.

I think this is the best decision for now since Ajax would best help him to develop his big potential. And really it's may be too soon for him to leave for a team which is under a greater stress like Inter or Juve.

Great move by Chivu. I think he would be in over his head if he went to a big club so soon. I hope he stays at Ajax at least 2 more years.
