They're getting serious here. Players aren't joining at the age of 36 like in Qatar but when they're just slightly past their prime or in some cases before they're 30.

First Anelka, Lucas Barrios, then Drogba, some Moreno guy yesterday...today Yakubu to Guangzhou R+F

Who will be next?

What's the foreigner limit in China btw?

Max 5 foreigners per team but only 4 allowed to be field. Also of the 5 foreigners, maximum non-Asian players allowed is 4, meaning if a team is going to have the full quota of 5 foreigners on their roster, one of them has to be from countries within the Asian Football Federation.

Also there is this somewhat confusing rule about Chinese players from Hong Kong, Macau or Taiwan. They are considered as domestic players in the Chinese league but "foreigners" in the Asian Champion's League :howler:

I heard Pranjic from Bayern will be off to join the gravytrain, too.

But really. I read an article that Chinese fans want a league and nt to be proud of, where teams produce talented Chinese footballers that are good enough to play in Europe. More similar to the model that's evident in Japan.

The article said there's a feeling of apathy in part as fans want to feel this kind of identification, pride and bond with their players and clubs.

The Chinese player I've heard the most "buzz" and excitement over these past few years is definitely Feng Renliang. Prior to the Asia Cup Chinese fans were really hoping this guy would be their spark and inspiration and maybe even take them places... or at least show what he could do. But due to a mad scandal he missed the tournament.

Earlier this year Villarreal gave Feng a trial.

He is a winger and plays for Shanghai Shenhua.

Porto signed some 18 year old midfielder named Li Shuai. He's apparently a promising player and has represented the U-17s and now the U-19s for China.

He will join Porto's U-19 team for the upcoming season and our sporting director has said there are likely to be two more Chinese teenagers joining the U-19s in the next couple of weeks.

Looks like China vs. MLS :D Though with the MLS there is a cap and some restrictions, but that doesn't stop them from paying the likes of Gerrard, Lampard, Pirlo like 7-8 million a season  Giovinco and Dos Santos are the only guys so far they get in their prime, Chicharito looks like he will reject MLS for now

There is also Demba Ba who moved for like 13m euros, Eidur Gudjohnsen is there, Portuguese international Ruben Micael
