Chelsea wants to sign Chile intrnational striker Marcelo Salas from Italian champion Lazio.

The Rome club is willing to sell the 25-year-
old because it will sign Barcelona's Brazilian playmaker Rivaldo.
Chelsea will pay Lazio 13 million pounds ($20
million) and wages of 40,000 pounds-per-week, while the fee will be 17 million pounds and the player's wages will be
50,000 pounds-per-week.

naah, 20 mil$ for salas in todays prices is a true bargain. don´t think so. if chelsea was willing to pay 10 mil£ for sutton in yesterdays prices, what would they be willing to pay today for a real striker?
ain´t no way we´re gonna sell salas for peanuts, if we´re gonna sell him. and that´s a big if.

marco

it could be worse

This at Dailysoccer from Salas himself, why shouldn't he stay with the winners of the double?

Lazio's Chilean striker Marcelo
Salas, linked to English FA Cup winners Chelsea, said on
Wednesday that he wanted to stay at his Italian club.
Salas, returning for World Cup qualifiers against Uruguay,
Paraguay and Bolivia, said a recent disagreement with Lazio
coach Sven Goran Eriksson after being substituted was not reason
enough to leave the Italian league and cup winners.
"On the subject of Lazio, I am not going to leave for being
annoyed with someone, it would be a very childish decision on my
part," Salas told reporters on arriving in the Chilean capital
to join the national squad's training camp.
British media have reported that Chelsea are prepared to pay
a British transfer record fee of around 17 million pounds
($25.21 million) for Salas.
Spanish newspapers have also said that Valencia striker
Claudio Lopez will sign for Lazio as a possible replacement for
Salas after the Spanish team's Champions League final against
Real Madrid on Wednesday.
Chile face Uruguay on June 3 in Montevideo, desperate to win
after losing to Argentina and drawing with Peru in their opening
qualifiers for the 2002 World Cup.
