Spurs win the Barclays South Reserve League

A 5-1 defeat of Arsenal Reserves by Southampton on Wednesday has handed the Barclays reserve league south title to Tottenham Hotspur.

Spurs reserve are 14 points clear of Southampton and cannot be caught in the games that remain.

Spurs reserves last won the league in 1994-1995 and have done so this time around with an incredible run of 14 wins in their last 15 games.

The success of the reserves bodes well for the future of the club.

Commenting on the title victory, reserve manager Clive Allen, told the club's official web site:

"I'm delighted for everyone and it's been a fantastic team effort,

"I've sent text messages to all the lads and they all know they've all played their part in this success.

"We've made great strides this season. I said to the lads on day one that I wanted to win this title, they wanted the same and they've done it in style.

"I'm proud and privileged to have led this group to the championship."
