Celtic's hopes of capturing Joos Valgaeren from Roda have taken a turn for the worse after the Dutch club dug their heels in over how deal should be financed.

Ronald Hendricks, son of Roda chief executive Noel, believes the hitch in the proposed move has been sparked by Valgaeren and his agent.

"We have maintained all along we want a certain price for Valgaeren but that price is minus all expenses," Hendricks told the Daily Record.

"The problem is the agent is looking for a fee and the player also wants money to leave us. He either has to drop that amount or it must be added to the transfer fee.

"I understand the agent is the person who placed an ultimatum on this deal."

But Valgaeren's agent, Guido Mallants, puts the blame at the Parkhead door and has issued another deadline for the deal.

"The only thing left to be finalised was between Celtic and Roda but I have heard nothing from them," said Mallants.

"I will wait until tonight and then it's over - finished. We will look to another club."
