Yeah no chance. Fun team to watch, and Inzaghi has been a fantastic coach. Kinda wish Juve had risked hiring him instead of this dud Sarri.
And 2000 Lazio had the best midfield in the league that season, with strong defence. Not carried by attack except Salas 12 goals. 2nd best was young Simone Inzaghi with 7, and oldie Boksic with 4. Mancini and Ravanelli were basically retire ready and barely played as backup.
Yeah that Lazio team was legit and they did add some good players to it like Stam and Crespo later on. But that period Serie A was stacked, Roma added Batistuta were just super charged to win the Scudetto the next season and then here were Milan and Juve of the early 2000's which were teams as good as any in the world.
Immobile will choke. Just as Lazio. They will lose the derby and go down a spiral of self-doubt and negativity. Losing one match after the next. A press silence follows. It has no effect. The clubs falls out of the scudetto race. Lotito visits the San Giovanni church to pray for a miracle. Lazio then falls out of the CL race. Lotito orders a punitive exile of the squad. Lazio falls out of the EL race too. Lotito fires Inzaghi. The season ends with Lazio in a mid table spot.
So, the decline has started even earlier than I predicted. Lazio lost to napoli and is out of the Coppa. Online orders of anti-depressants have surged in minutes after the game. And those are just purchases from the players.
And so the winning streak comes to an end, as does Immobile's scoring streak. Even though it wasn't a loss, Rome's largest newspaper has already published its headline for tomorrow's edition, calling Rome the new Tokyo, for it's sky high suicide rate. Dark clouds are gathering overhead. The temperature grows cold. The wind is howling. And that's only the beginning. Things will get much, much worse for now on. #LivinLaVidaLazio
