Matias Almeyda. Joined Lazio in 1998. Played 93 games, scored 2 goals. Never sold a game, never spat on the shirt, a reliable "foot-soldier" without whom no team can be imagined. Best characteristics: can play with both feet, and is ready to put his entire body in the line. Best personal memory: when he grabbed marco delvecchio by the throat in the second derby of the Double season. There was a banner on the Olimpico that said "11 Almeyda" that's how esteemed by Laziali he was. Thank you Matias Almeyda, Campione d'Italia.

My best personal Almeyda-memory when was he fired in that goal against Parma. What a rocket! I couldn't belive my eyes. :star:

Almeyda's work on the pitch so often goes unnoticed. He is a pitbull - in the davids mould - but with a little more elegance to his play. definately a player every team needs. he accepts change without question and never makes problems.

A great player, no doubt.
