Midfielder Matteo Brighi is ready to stake his claim at Juventus after being recalled to the Stadio delle Alpi after an impressive season at Bologna. "I am ready to play for Juventus," the Italy Under-21 international said.

Brighi joined Juve from Rimini two years ago, but played just 11 times for the Bianconeri before being sent to Bologna where he has thrived under coach Francesco Guidolin.

At the Renato Dall 'Ara he was soon commanding a regular spot in Guidolin's starting XI and has also established himself as one of the leading lights of Italy's Under-21 side.

"My year with Bologna has been very important and I have to thank Guidolin for that," he said. "I am now more experienced. I understand the difference between playing regularly and sitting on the substitute's bench."

So far has Brighi's stock risen this season that he is now considered one of Italy's biggest hopes for the future, but for the 21-year-old, winning a place in the Juve side is his immediate priority.

"I am very pleased by what people have said, but they are only words," he said. "I want to work hard to earn a place in Juventus' starting eleven.

"It will be difficult because I will be playing in the team that won the Scudetto. But I am different now. I am no longer the boy I was two years ago. I am calmer now, and I will have no fear of playing in the Champions' League, for example."

agreed with Sabastien.

i just hope that juve dont be stupid and sell davids and think that brighi, baiocco and maresca will do teh job for us.

they need to play a lot for us to get experience, but we still need the likes of davids to show them the way in the big games against CL teams.

remember, youth is great, as long as there is always an experienced player there to show them the way.
