Brazil's Denilson wants to play in Europe

SAO PAULO, Brazil (AP) -- After being released by Palmeiras earlier this month, striker Denilson reportedly wants to play again in Europe.

Denilson once commanded the world-record transfer fee, costing Real Betis 21.5 million pounds to sign him from Sao Paulo in 1998. His career has since been on a downslide, moving to Palmeiras after a disappointing spell in Major League Soccer with Dallas.

"I have received offers from teams in England, Greece, Turkey and Germany," Denilson told the Gazeta Online news service. "I am not in a hurry. I am studying what is best for me.

"I feel that the time has come to return to Europe, but if I do not get an a good offer I could stay in Brazil, where some teams have shown an interest in me."

The 31-year-old World Cup veteran with Brazil said he had hoped to remain in Palmeiras, which could have benefited from his experience during the upcoming Copa Libertadores championship.

"But they did not see it that way," he said.

Denilson's 14-year career also included stints in Sao Paulo, Flamengo, Bordeaux and Al-Nasr.

An extraordinarily talented player who kept shooting himself in the foot when he had the world at his feet.

He's probably looking at older players (notably Rivaldo) who is raking in the money...Rivaldo is on 10.2 million dollars per season at Uzbek club.
The best deal in the world would be to buy Denilson for what he's worth and sell him for what he thinks he's worth. Betis did the opposite. As for playing in Europe, that's a big continent and Denilson may very well fit into a minor team. I can only say that I wouldn't want Denilson for Botafogo, as he demands wages bigger what he actually deserves.
I hope he goes away very quickly as Atletico may think he is a worth try.

:howler:

And JC, I don't think Leão, Kalil and Bebeto would do that. I think the era of Fabris and Petkovics is over.
You never know, with everyday news about how we "lost" players like Nem and Cesar Prates and no replacement arrived...
Anyways, he would be great for cruzeiro...

 I thought you were trolling but it looks like he's on the verge on becoming a Trotter....BIG MISTAKE!
credit to megson for taking a look at him as he's not the type of player he would have ever considered signing at one time, shows good signs of a manager evolving
The thing is before he came to America, when he played for Bordeaux, they wanted to keep him on cus he had done well but couldnt afford it. He did alright at Palmeiras im led to believe? Hopefully it works out for him cus hes entertaining to watch

:D
Pennant will be our new Cafu .
He didn't do shit at Palmeiras. He scored 3-4 trashy goals, and went on to say how he is fighting to save his career, etc.
He can still be a good superb-sub when you need to waste time or when the opponent is sitting inside their box, no way can he play from start...
I often think Denilson is wasting time, but I am never sure if he wasting time for or against the team he plays.
He's now signed for a club in Vietnam called Hai Phong :D
