Brazil have pulled out of the race to host the 2006 World Cup after pledging their support to South Africa's bid to stage the tournament, following a press conference on Monday afternoon.

The move is expected to see Brazil make a bid to host the 2010 World Cup with reciprocal support from the South Africans then.

The Brazilian Football Federation's president Ricardo Teixeira revealed: "We will work for our vote to go to South Africa and for us to have their support in 2010."

The hosts will be announced on Thursday, with the three countries now in the running for he tournament alongside South Africa being England, Germany and Morocco.

However, Teixeira feels that it will be the South Africans who will win the right to host the 2006 tournament, adding: "South Africa will win."
