Brazil summon Ronaldinho, Kaka for WCup qualifiers

RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) -Despite struggling with injuries recently, AC Milan midfielders Ronaldinho and Kaka were called up for Brazil's World Cup qualifiers against Ecuador and Peru.

Kaka suffered a foot injury on Feb. 7 in a Serie A match against Reggina, while Ronaldinho has had lingering problems with an Achilles' heel.

Before a Feb. 10 friendly against Italy, Ronaldinho had not been summoned by coach Dunga for Brazil's previous three matches - a friendly against Portugal and World Cup qualifiers against Colombia and Venezuela. Dunga said Ronaldinho needed to improve his form.

Two other Milan players - striker Alexandre Pato and defender Thiago Silva - were also named on Thursday, along with Manchester City striker Robinho and Inter Milan's Adriano.

Brazil, second in the South American race, visits sixth-place Ecuador on March 29 and hosts last-place Peru on April 1.

The rest of Brazil's squad remained nearly the same as that which beat Italy 2-0 in a friendly last month with two exceptions: Internacional's Kleber will substitute Adriano of Sevilla, while Sao Paulo defender Mirando got the nod in place of AS Roma's Juan, who was injured on Wednesday against Arsenal.

Dunga reiterated he'd recall Ronaldo if the striker can reproduce his best form. Ronaldo returned last week for Corinthians after a year out with injury and has scored twice in two matches.

"I'm staying calm on the issue and I'm cheering for Ronaldo,'' Dunga said. "He doesn't need to prove to anyone that he knows how to score goals.''
