This is crazy!!! We need to put out 2 attacking midfielders end of story!!

Leaving Ronaldinhio Gaucho to carry the burden of a nation with a defensive wall is ridiculious. What is this Italy?? Even if it was we sure dont have no Christian Vieri!

Now if Brazil played with Ronaldinhio and Kaka who i hear great things of man that would be insane. If not put Denilson in and Rivaldo in the midfield!

The line up should be

...............................Marcos...............................
..........Edmilson.......Lucio......Polga...................
Cafu.......................Vampeta....................R. Carlos
................Kaka....................Ronaldinhio..............
...............Ronaldo.............Rivaldo

Now thats a line up!!!

Dont put in 2 defensive midfielders that boring as hell and cowardly with a back 3 and wingbacks. Lets run at the other teams defense and see how they hold up.

About Tactics...

I think the reason Scolari fields two defensive mids is basically because he believes our central defenders aren't 100% reliable. Anyone disagrees? So he fields Emerson and Gilberto to provide cover for the defenders.

If he doesn't really trust the central defs, why do we use three of those unreliable defenders then? Scolari has said publicly that our wingbacks (Cafu and Junior specifically) are weak at defending - he sees them as wingers rather than defenders. So he fields a three-man defense to cover for the wingbacks. Whatta mess, huh? But he's right - to make the best out of very offensive wingbacks, the 3-5-2 is in fact the perfect system. Scolari has built a system around our players' strong points, which is a good thing. :)

And does anyone remember how many times in the past few years Brazil has conceded goals because our wingbacks attacked and left spaces in defense? The other coaches also know that our wingbacks are poor defenders. Scolari is trying to deal with an old problem here.

Following that reasoning, Cafu's and Roberto Carlos' primary role is to attack. And in fact, Cafu rarely appears on defense, he's usually on the right-wing. Roberto, being the powerhouse he is, moves back and forth all the time, but he's an exception. ;) So maybe we should count both of them as offensive weapons...? Food for thought, I suppose.

I personally would have loved to see Ze Roberto by Emerson's side, as I've always felt he was perfect for that exact role in a 3-5-2 midfield. He had a great understanding with Roberto Carlos too, which would provide for a killer left-side for our team. Alas, it's apparently not going to happen; Felipao prefers Vampeta. :yuck: :D

And so many people comnplain about Romario's absence... I think Amoroso should have one of the striker spots. And I also believe Scolari should've picked five central defenders instead of just four, as I fear we may need the reserves. I mean, if Roque Junior is sent off in one match, and on the following game Polga gets injured, who goes to defense - Gilberto Silva? But since Gilberto is a starter on our midfield, we would be changing TWO positions instead of a simple "off-with-the-starter-in-with-the-reserve" switch! :groan: And IMHO that's a serious planning mistake.

If Scolari took five central-defs (for three positions) and Gilberto Silva was a sixth alternative for defense, it would work perfectly. We would still have an extra spot due to Gilberto's versatility. But as it is, the squad looks unnecessarily unbalanced. I sincerely hope I'm just being pessimistic. ;)

Avante Brasil!!:proud:

garrincha,
seeing that your quite an inteligent person and that understands about football, can you explain why you hate Vampeta and love the football of a guy like EMERSON???

IS it the bad impression that Vampeta caused in Rio, after not playing well in that horrible Flamengo side? Just remember what he played in Corinthians and what he is playing now! He's the best DM of the country!;)

I disagree....this squad is very balanced....the only thing that caused a bit of unbalacement was the cut of Djalminha for Kaka. We do not have that holder of the ball in midfield anymore....that brain that will conduct the pace of the game!. The rest is perfectly balanced, even considering we are only taking 4 specialists of defence for 3 positions.....as Gilberto Silva and Emerson can perfectly play overthere!

Cool it, Ze!

Ze, I have nothing specifically against Vampeta. I think he's a top-class player, and I was kidding when I used the :yuck: - I knew it would make you jump. He's a great option, although he wouldn't be in MY list if I were Brazil's manager - my four defensive mids would probably be Emerson, Gilberto Silva, Juninho Pernambucano and Mauro Silva, with Kleberson and Vampeta as alternatives if any of those was unavailable. A matter of preference, y'know? But I do respect Scolari's choice, and think all of the chosen players are extremely qualified. :) Can you tell I'm optimistic? :D

Garrincha,
Of course i'm sad that Romario is not in, nor is Juninho Pernambucano, but i'm confident that this group can bring home the title!

The one thing that we do not have, again is that "brain" in midfield. But hten again our opponents don't know how Ronaldinho Gaucho is playing and they do not have the slightest clue of who the hell is Kaka.........plus they'll be worreid with Ronaldo, but they have no clue of Luizao's goalscroing instincts of fighting spirit! I'm confident......if we don't win i think Italy will! (which is bad for us as they will be 4 times also!:( :fero: :D

Garricha, from GIL

Sao Taffarel, that's due to tactical demands of his current Real Madrid team, where the star-studded midfield is very attack-oriented and so the wingbacks have bigger defensive concerns. Still, Roberto stands out as one of the best footballers today.

The Brazilian media has the habit of treating anyone who plays abroad as untalented bums - go figure! - but hey, the whole world knows Roberto Carlos is awesome. ;)

I'm just curious is Kaka the only teenager on the team? Is anyone else under 20? Also seriously unless brazil play with 2 playmakers what are the chances we will get to see Kaka??

I mean i hate to admit it but Ronaldinhio Gaucho and Ronaldo will probably play every minute (NIKE will see to that!!) and Rivaldo is some sort of god to Scolari. Along with Denilson who I think is AWESOME favored to come on as his replacement. So when is Kaka going to get a chance??

I bet it will be like 1998 when Doriva Giovanni etc didnt get 1 second of time because of Leonardo!

It was quite good that Doriva only played against Marrocco. He is awful!

Knowing that is why Zagallo called Emerson for the place of Romario, and took the least offensive squad in Brazilian history for a world cup!
