Birmingham's Gronkjaer agrees Atletico Madrid deal
tribalfootball.com - December 2, 2004

Atletico Madrid sports director Toni Munoz has struck a deal with Birmingham City winger Jesper Gronkjaer.

The Danish international has verbally agreed terms with Atletico over a three-and-a-half year contract and will move to Spain in January after being told he can leave St Andrews by Birmingham manager Steve Bruce this week.

Munoz struck terms with Gronkjaer and his representatives while in London and Atletico have also agreed terms with Birmingham for a deal worth £800,000.

Well he's been really dissapointing, so I wouldn't be too sad to see him go. We'd be better off getting a player that maybe can't go past people so easily but can actually hit a half decent cross instead.

I thought he'd been doing Ok for the Blues? Took time to settle but seemd to be alright now.

You'll have to replace him. Any ideas who you'll be looking at?

Atletico Madrid agree Birmingham deal for Gronkjaer
tribalfootball.com - December 8, 2004

Atletico Madrid have sealed an agreement with Birmingham City for winger Jesper Gronkjaer.

The Danish international will move to the Vicente Calderon next month for £1.5 million after intense negotiations over the weekend led by Gronkjaer's agent, Vincenzo Morabito.

Gronkjaer has already committed to a three-and-a-half year contract with Atletico after talks with club sports director Toni Munoz last week.

Dunno Balis. Someone in the £2mil range who's effective seeing as most of the money David Gold will put in this winter needs to go on a striker.

Christian Wilhelmson wouldn't be bad.

Atletico Madrid complete deal for Birmingham's Gronkjaer
tribalfootball.com - December 17, 2004

Atletico Madrid completed the signing of Birmingham City winger Jesper Gronkjaer yesterday.

Birmingham managing director Karren Brady and Gronkjaer's agent, Vincenzo Morabito, were both in Madrid to finalise terms with Atletico officials.

The length of contract is for two-and-a-half years and Gronkjaer is expected in Madrid either today, or most likely the weekend, to undergo a medical and put pen to paper.

The transfer will cost Atletico £800,000 after Birmingham agreed to come down from their initial £2 million asking price after pressure from Gronkjaer.

The Dane will make his Atletico debut after the winter recess in the city derby against Real Madrid.
