Following the magnificient performace of Rooney as fullback in both CL leg 1's vs Roma and Barca and Sheva's outstanding goaline save last week against United, in your opinion whom among the 2 is the better defender?

Have your say if interested :smileani:

Rooney has more stamina and can cover the whole flank and harass anyone though he is very fiery so you are risking a card, Sheva is more cool headed but not as feisty, he relies on his positioning and reading of the game, if they were a bit taller they'd probably make a great CB partnerhip.

Thanks Jern

Anyway, at late haven't seen much of Sheva, but as far as Rooney goes, seeing how he's fielded nowadays in away CL games, he would have been perfect in an Azzurri shirt back in the 60's at the peak of catenaccio style footie.
From an Italian, hats off to him and Ferguson for daring this much :shades:

id say Rooney. sure hes fiery, but he doesnt rush his tackles and his positioning when facing the man with the ball is great. hes a bit small, but can make a great RB if he commits himself there. i think hes better than some of the hacks parading themselves as defenders.

Rooney is tough to beat with the ball and you might say he's risking a card Jern but it takes at least three scythes and four rants at the referee/lino to get a yellow
