Istanbul, April 2 (SW) - German Christoph Daum has been sacked by his Turkish club Besiktas, new president Hasan Arat made the decision this week leaving Daum free to move back to Germany and coach Cologne.

Daum has been involved in drug scandals in the last twelve months, first having been caught using drugs and having the German national coaching job taken away, then being involved in a drug smuggling trial while at Besiktas.

German club Cologne are keen to secure the services of the German as the current president Albert Caspers retires this weekend.

New President Wolfgang Overath is keen to replace current coach Friedhelm Funkel for the start of next season.
