Diomede links up with Baggies
FRANCE World Cup winner Bernard Diomede has joined Albion for a week's training.

The ex-Liverpool midfielder linked up with Bryan Robson's men for the first time today (Wednesday).

Manager Bryan Robson said: "Bernard's a free agent.

"He was at Liverpool for a few years and I saw him play a couple of times but he never really had a good chance there.

"He's certainly worth a look at and he'll be staying this week with us.

"He's a left-sided midfield player more than a central midfielder."

Diomede, who joined Liverpool in a £3million switch from Auxerre in July 2000, played three times for France when they lifted the World Cup on home soil in 1998.

The 30-year-old's Anfield stint came to an end in July 2003 when he converted a successful loan spell with French outfit AC Ajaccio into a permanent move.

Bernard Diomede has agreed to sign for French outfit Creteil after being on
trial at West Brom.
The 31-year-old former Liverpool winger was hoping to make a return to The
Premiership with Bryan Robson's strugglers.
Diomede spent a week training with The Baggies, but has not hung around to
wait and see if he will be offered a contract at The Hawthorns.
The former Ajaccio man has agreed to sign a two-and-a-half-year deal with
second division outfit Creteil.
Diomede has seen his career slide since being part of the France squad that
lifted the World Cup on home turf in 1998.
A move to Liverpool failed to be as successful as he would have liked, as he
barely figured for Gerard Houllier in his two-and-a-half years at Anfield.
Diomede is a free agent after leaving Ajaccio in the summer, but he will be
heading for the Paris suburbs for his return, instead of the Black Country
with West Brom.
