21 yo.

He can play as a defender or DM but I think his best position will be just in front of the defence.

Has played quite a number of games now for Montpellier, 26 matches since he signed his first professional contract in 2010 and has 10 French U21 caps but he isn't really mentioned much probably due to the fact that he doesn't play for one of the more traditional big clubs in France.

He is aggressive, physical, good at breaking up opponents play but also has good technique on the ball and shows good awareness in tight situations.

The concern about him may be that he lacks a real turn of pace but he seems to show enough intelligence in his game at this stage to overcome that.

He is a Marseille youth product.

The two attributes that really stand out with Stambouli is his aggressiveness and the fact that he's so well prepared physically. He's never been pushed around in Ligue 1 since arriving on the scene, however, he does lack quite a lot of pace and unless he gets protected properly when played as a CB, then he'll struggle. I've seen example of it quite a few times over the past year, both for Montpellier and the French U21's. Stambouli is the leader type though, he's not afraid of diving in, take a tackle or deliver one (although he can be a bit careless) which shows that he's got plenty of character as well. Probably better at DM rather than CB considering he isn't the last outpost. He's also played at right-back quite a few times, not so much this season, only when they've been without Bocaly.

Herny Bedimo's been their best defender this season, much because of how he's improved his offensive game the past year, also been consistent defensively.

Having seen him only in the back before yesterday, I was really impressed by his composure, and confort with the ball at his feet. Hope we will see more of him in the midfield during CAN, and that he continues to seize his chance.
