I know we have the Croatians in other sports thread, but I just saw a commercial for the Olympics and realized I was clueless as to who'll be representing us in the Olympics and in which sports we're competing.

Draganja?
Vlasic?
Kostelic ;) ?
Petrovic, Kukoc, Radja, etc ;) ?

That 1992 final was the last time I really cared about the Olympics, but it's still an important event.

maybe the school system in Croatia is different? I wouldn't know...also Nikola Kalinic apparently never even graduated from high school and he was at Euros :pp

when is the basketball qualifiers and what are the chances? Although they really aren't that great of a team it would be interesting to see them in the Olympics

Qualifications are 14-20 july in Greece. 12 teams fight for 3 spots. We play Cameroon and Puerto Rico in the groupstage.

Winner advances to semifinal. A win there secures an Olympic spot. The 2 semifinal losers play for the last one.

actually his real name is Ruiwu Tan, Vecernji mis-spelled it :pp

Croatia has been drawn into Group A of the Olympic basketball tournament along with Australia, Russia, Lithuania, Argentina, Iran. Pretty tough group, but two wins will ensure quarterfinals, and hopefully Iran and Australia will be enough but they could potentially beat one of these European teams

August 10: Australia
August 12: Russia
August 14: Argentina
August 16: Lithuania
August 18: Iran

What events do you reckon we could win medals in, handball, waterpolo and high jump? Thats all i got so far.
Zlatko Mateša said:
I expect around 10 medals.

Heard from my cousin that there are over a 1000 Asians living in the Zagreb area... obviously this Wu Tang Guy is a naturalized citizen.

AND TO HajdukSplit... please don't jump on the bandwagon if the basketball team does well.:nono: You've been bashing them at every chance... especially our beloved Zoran! :boxing: :dielaugh:

The basketball competition will be fierce... and out of the 12 teams - 8 or 9 have a chance at a medal... and Croatia is one of them.
