Bayern Munich commercial
manager Uli Hoeness has threatened to field the club's reserve
team in the German Cup final against Werder Bremen.
"I would play the Cup final with the reserves," Hoeness told
soccer magazine Kicker in an interview released on Tuesday. "Our
absolute priority is the Champions League."
Hoeness criticised the German Football Federation (DFB) for
staging the Cup final on May 6, in between the two legs of the
Champions League semifinals.
Bayern will visit Real Madrid for the first leg on May 3.
The return leg is on May 9.
"To have to play the German Cup final three days after the
first leg of the Champions League semifinals is a joke," said
Bayern were beaten by Werder on penalties in last year's
German Cup final. They also lost the European Cup final to
Bayern are still in contention to become the first German
club to win the European Cup and the domestic league and Cup
titles in one season.
Asked wich of the titles whe would prefer, Hoeness said:
"The Champions League. We have a real chance now that Manchester
United are out."
