The Argentinian striker Gabriel Omar Batistuta has ended his career as player. The 36 year old, who earned most of his fame at the Italian team Fiorentina, spent his last days as player at Al Arabi in Qatar.

The 36 year old played for Fiorentina from 1991 to 2000, when he decided to join AS Roma in his quest to win at least one Italian championship. His choice turned out to have been the right one as the team, then led by Fabio Capello, took the Scudetto in 2001.

In 2003, 'Batigol' moved to Internazionale before moving to Qatar last year.

In the Argentinian national team, Batistuta has been one of the most influential players ever, having appeared at three World Cups, at which he scored ten goals. In total, he scored 59 for his country, which makes him topscorer of all times in Argentina.
